Hi All,
Here's something I wrote a few years ago, but never properly recorded. Something about an old cowboy, lost love, the outskirts of San Antonio and a California dream...
San AntonioIn my mind today I saw you
Running wild through the summer
In the heat of the day
I can feel California
Ready to mourn ya
Headed where the dust winds blow
San Antonio San Antonio
In our days and nights together
Living hard through the winter
In the cold of the night
I left for California
Ready to mourn ya
Shiver when the desert turns cold
San Antonio San Antonio
In my old blue jeans and leather
Driving fast through the seasons
In the mist of the morning
I was in California
Ready to mourn ya
Wishing on the day growing old
San Antonio San Antonio

Classic Bob Dean. What more need be said?
A good write.
Good vocal (a signature sound).
And what is becoming "The Robert Dean Band" signature sound.
Steady as a rock. Quality.
Excellent.

Love this cowboy sound Bob!
The lyrics as always are exceptional.
Floyd,
That’s very kind of you. Thanks!
Bob
Painted a good picture to fit the lyrics.
Well done!

There was definitely a sense of good memories and longing in the lyrics that was quite clear to me, and I think that you did an excellent job with portraying that particular set of emotions. Well done! Thanks for sharing.
Nice one, Bob. Evocative lyrics and a great sound (love that baritone guitar).
Regards,
Leon
David,
Much appreciated. Thanks.
Bob
Hi Bob,
This is a nice, emotional song, you made. And a very consistent 'Dean's Sound'. I read Floyd said something of this kind too!
The bariton guitar works very well in this song. Especially in combination with your emotional, somewhat thin voice. I like that.
It's a pity it was lying on that shelf for so long. You have more on that shelf? Let us hear them.
Have a nice day,
Hans
Hi Bob,
Love the baritone! What a great sound, and suits your material well.
Excellent song as per usual, enjoyed!
Moto,
Thanks very much.
Bob
The tremolo baritone was slightly muddy for the 1st notes of the intro but that settled quickly.
Fabulous band sound & mix.
Cool.
Ember,
Much appreciated. Thanks.
Bob
Oh, yeah, that baritone sets the table so well. Excellent lyrics and vocal, as always, Bob. I keep thinking your singing SAD Antonio.
Bob
As floyd said a truly signature sound.
You keep producing excellent songs and this is another one.
Peter
Hi rsdean,
Pleasant atmosphere created by the mix and your voice. There is emotion and the instrumentalization make it a good composition.

Leon,
Thank you. Very appreciated.
Bob
Knew when I so the song title it was going to be one of your classic tune. Awesome tune. Loved the tremolo guitar intro. Super vocal and lyric as always. Well done.
Ah yes...the baritone guitar featured band returns to the stage.
Signature sounds are cool indeed but you always add something special to each one.
Your imagery and vocal present like a film...so easy to see it all.
Excellent!

Guitar intro was a little bit too much for me, after that, classic sound by you all the way. I'm a big lyrics fan, probably why I like your stuff so much. Great job again.
Hey Bob ...
I lived in San Antonio 5 years and Bakersfield, CA 6 years. Brought back a few memories from both places. Your sound is so unique and fabulous! A bit pf poignancy in the lyric perfectly supported by the tremolo guitar. You never disappoint. So great to hear another fine composition nd performance from you!
Alan
Hans,
Thanks very much.
Bob
Hi Bob,
A very emotive track which sounds like the closing credits of a movie.
Loved the tremolo guitar!
Great signature vocal.
Excellent mix.
ROG.
Dave,
Much appreciated - thanks.
Bob
Bob,
Great listen—that Baritone Electric Guitar just slays; give the tune such body and mood. The write is wonderful in its simplicity and imagery, and the vocal takes it all to a higher level. Really nice work on this one!
All my best,
Deej
That baritone guitar works well here and complements the emotional setting of the song.
"In my mind today I saw you
Running wild through the summer
In the heat of the day"
Love those lines.
Great production and mix.
Marty,
LOL! Thanks - much appreciated.
Bob
Scott,

Janice & Bud,

When someone says it perfectly, why re-invent the wheel........this is vintage Bob Dean, which is always good in my book!! Clever rhyme for California.......reminded me of Girl, don't they warn ya. Nice Bob!!! Take care. Greg
Yes classic Bob Dean. Super vocal, lyrics, instrumentation and mix. Everything fit together perfectly.
I really liked this one!
Greg,
Thanks - I appreciate the kind words.
Bob
Hi Robert.
I like this. The only suggestion I have is to lengthen the first "San" in that line to emphasise an important part of the song.
I was always amazed and attracted by the mention of city names in American songs. They sound more romantic than UK cities.
Vic
Vic,
Thanks - I appreciate that.
