Songs My Mother Taught Me
By Alfred Heyduk / Translation by Natalie Macfarren

Songs my mother taught me in the days long vanished,
Seldom from her eyelids were the tear drops banished.
Now I teach my children each melodious measure;
Often tears are flowing from my memory’s treasure.
That's a nifty piece of music. How did you find it?

Instruments fit well, from my point of view.

Thanks for providing the links for the additional info on the song.

Thanks. I'm on a Charles Ives kick lately! And there are MIDIs abounding.

Everyone who knows Ives knows he did all the super-dissonant stuff, but he also had an incredibly sweet side as a songwriter.
