Sing We Now Of Christmas

https://soundcloud.com/mark_hayes/sing-we-now-of-christmas

From the 15th century French Christmas carol.

Because I need it, and sorry to be jumping the holiday gun so drastically.

This version based on the arrangement for solo piano by Mark Hayes (NOT ME! This guy: https://markhayes.com/biography/) but the piano here is just BIAB. I omitted all the original fancy piano stuff and pretty much just kept the chording for BIAB to play to, under recorder and violin voices.

BIAB memo:

15th century!?
Wow, if only they would have had BIAB back then, no telling what they would have created.

A nice modern rendition.
Well done,.

Well done Mark. Love the mascot photograph. I was surprised there are no vocals since "Sing We Now of Christmas" reads like there should be vocals.

Still not sure how you achieved that; but, sounds good.
Amazing how we recognize it as a Christmas carol even after, what, 400+ years.

Hi Mark,

I was amazed you could make also this kind of music. Very well done!
It is something else than throwing pots and pans off the stair ;-)
And you had it there with you from around 1500 you said? Amazing!

I was very pleased with what you made. Thumbs up!

Moto, Jim, Ed, Hans, thanks so much for your comments.

Sorry about the absence of singing, I’m so used to not doing vocals I forget the implications of a title like this! I should probably put a disclaimer in a signature, like what you find on fake fruit drinks, "CONTAINS NO VOCALS" =8^)

this is different in a very good way.
made me feel like i was in sherwood forest way back when
with robin hood and his merry men etc.
or dancing round a maypole.
also reminds me of the genre of music i might hear on a britbox series on pbs.

you have hidden talents sir !!

well well done.

This song is something very different but most excellent!

Loved your instrumentation.

Two thumbs up.

I really caught the medieval feel of the tune. That was enjoyable. You're right on time with the Christmas music. I just heard a commercial on TV with holiday music in the background.

I like how you brought in the more modern instruments. Too bad there isn't a harpischord in it.

All in all... Good song.

OM / MD / GH – God bless ye merry gentlemen for your kind comments.

I always loved real Christmas carols when I was a kid, not "Winter Wonderland" poop but the real thing, MUSIC like "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing!"

This plastic angel had a light bulb and a wind-up music box inside, and that's what she played.
