Hi all,

It's been awhile since I have had any time here. I am still very occupied with taking care of my wife. Rachel is doing well post transplant, but we are still pretty consumed with labs, doctor visits, etc. Also trying to get all caught up with my doctor visits I have been putting off for the past year.

I had some time to write this one recently. It's a tongue-in-cheek one about how "friendly" everyone is on Youtube and Facebook these days. I hope you get a chuckle out of it. All the instruments on this one are Realtracks.

Last Saturday night, I had nothing to do
So I decided to watch some YouTube
I was looking to find the fountain of youth
Or a scientific breakthrough

But forget what I saw on the videos
The most inticing thing I found
Was written in the comments section below
Where wisdom does abound

You can see the dazzling intellect
In this massive game of words
Even Socrates and Plato
Would be fighting to be  heard

I read that I would burn in hell
If I don't vote the way that he does
It's a nasty brawl, a free for all
Where they all take off their gloves

You can be right. You can be wrong
You can be anything. You can bring it on
Get ready for a fight. You're coming on too strong
'Cause you lose a good thing, when the good is gone

Youtube got me so intense,
I thought I'd take a look at Facebook
At least there I know I've got some friends
And with luck, I might even find a cookbook

I can see the latest photographs
Maybe read a poem or two
With peace and love, I could look above
All the bad things people do

But apparantly those fighting folks
On Youtube have all joined Facebook
So here we go again, my friends
It's time we understood

You can be right. You can be wrong
You can be anything. You can bring it on
Get ready for a fight. You're coming on too strong
'Cause you lose a good thing, when the good is gone

Nice walk n talk.
You've a very radio friendly voice.
It was, I confess, a relief to hear the sung section.
Fair observation about the modern field of conflict.

Hi Steve.
Really enjoyed this as I do all your compositions.
Sorry to hear life has been tough for you.
All best to you and your wife.

Yep, youtube comments can be the bottom of the world's barrel. Not a pretty sight looking down into it. Fun song done in your usual professional way. Hope things improve for you and your wife.

Hi Steve
Great song
Really fun to listen to the song
I like your voice
Especially your pronunciation. Would also like
be able to speak my English like that.
But of course that won't work ;-)))
Thank you very much
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

Steve...brilliant...catchy tune and a little bit of truth mixed in...great narrative approach to the verses makes it conversational and more story oriented...I'm going to be singing the chorus all day in my head ( I might even sing it for my wife...Nah...better not)...great listen, thanks.

Steve,
good to hear that your better half is doing better.
Excellent and unexpectedly quirky tune. Well arranged, performed and mixed.
Fun lyrics.

"Even Socrates and Plato
Would be fighting to be heard"
Lol!

Enjoyed it and thank you for sharing.

Steve, first and foremost I'm glad that your wife is doing better.

What a great song! Love the backing tracks and your vocal. The lyrics are fantastic. Great live feel!

Two thumbs up.

Steve,

Just excellent! This comes out of the gate with energy—nice guitar work. I like the spoken word approach to this—a little Charlie Daniels vibe to it . . . and then kicking into that great vocal in the chorus (nice light touch on the harmonies there). Lead guitar resonates—perfect!
Great stuff!

All my best,

Deej

Interesting take, Steve. Well built talking to singing, the band comes on strong at the end and I love that "yelling" outro. Very creative.

Nice supple groove and the instrument selection is very good, the band feels real. Enjoyed the pleasant talk and vocals. Catchy chorus. I'm glad that the message is expressed in a friendly way and not the YouTube comment section way.

Very different tune Steve. Very creative lyric. Loved the spoken word. Backtrack was perfect for the vocal and lyric. Well done. Best wished to your wife and family..

Great theme, Steve; and, timely. Especially lately, I have
visited once reliable sites only to have found them invaded my me-too idealogues....Man, they sure do hang together.

Steve

Very well done, nice hook in the chorus and overall a very engaging (and topical) song.

Glad to hear your wife is progressing well.

Hi Steve,

LOVE THOSE LYRICS !!! So true. And so depressing.. I think you wrapped them in a very appropriate song - a really good package.

Made me consider posting a song here which I wrote about two years ago featuring the problems I have with those big data companies (X-Rayed).

A very, very good job!

Take care,

Stefan

It's hard to single out anything as it is all so good, but these two are stand outs.

You've made up for lost time, Steve, and welcome back!
Great vocals (spoken and sung) and band as always. The transitions from the spoken word to the singing are so smooth and the key changes are very effective.

A fun and most engaging listen(s)!
