I Have To Thank You
F#m Bpm 165 A fast folk style (Eventide Low Strings Fast Folk)

I wrote this one for my wife.
All comments welcome

[video:youtube]https://youtu.be/Rth_JOXJwq4[/video]

Those roads I've traveled left many miles behind.
At times I've struggled, it just can't be denied.

You held my hand, you saw me through.
Now its time for me to say, I thank you

Bridge

Your there to help me through my deepest dark despair.
I cannot count the times, you always have been there.

Your like a fires spark that warms me like you do.
Now it's time for me to say, I thank you.

Bridge

You held my hand you saw me through.
Now its for me to say, I love

I wake each morning and know that you'll be there.
Yes, I have to thank you for your gentle loving care.

You held my hand, you saw me through.
Now its time for me to say, I love you

Yes, I have to thank you for the good things you've done.
You here from early morning till the setting of the sun

A fast folk style with two "low strings" instruments: A bowed acoustic bass playing held
notes and a cello that alternates between simple melodic playing and root notes.
Two acoustic guitars provide fingerpicking and strumming, panned far to the left and right.
NashvilleBrushesEasyBluegrass RealDrums start with brushes in the A section and add sidestick hits in the B section.
This song is in the key of F#m/A and uses basic major/minor triads, which change every 4 to 8 beats.

Wow! This is classic "folk" as it gets! laugh

The country fiddle was a surprise, but I love the sound here.

Cool ending. smile
Rob,
your voice fits into this beautifully.
I'm not a fan of the fiddle as it seems to lift the mood rater than deepen it but that's fine too.
ACE.
Hi Rob,

what a wonderful and lovely love song. I can so much relate to that gratefulness ...

And it's musically so well-done, too! And the video is so nice also.

Very, very nice job.

Take care,

Stefan
Hello Rob
To say thank you to your wife in this way is something beautiful
Packaged in such a wonderful song
You have BiaB really really well exploited
In addition still absolutely great sung
The reverb of the singing is really nice
The fiddle soli fit perfectly

Awesome vocal Rob. Loved the acoustic. Super backtrack and instrumentation. Well done
Hello Rob ...

What a great song! Loved the video, too.

At the 1:34 - 1:37, then again at 2:04 - 2:06, the music was a wee bit piercing. Maybe if you cut back on the upper mid frequency a bit, or dropped the volume a touch, it would allow the richness of the note to better define itself. Just a thought FWIW.

All that said, it's a really great song and you have the perfect voice for it! Very niuce, indeed!

Best to you ...

Alan
Thank you David.

What a great song you produced for your wife.

Although I liked everything about this song it was your vocal and especially your lyrics that took it over the top for me. Super mix and backing tracks also.

Two thumbs up.
Nice touch with that fiddle, Rob. It seems to accentuate the joyful gratitude of the lyrics. A wonderful song for a wonderful woman, I'm sure.
Rob,

A wonderful folksy love song—nice production and arrangement, though I agree with Alan that there a couple spots where it was a bit harsh, and I might dial back on the reverb on the vocal a tad (maybe—see what others think)—all of which is an easy fix. The fiddle rocks! Great work on this!

All my best to you,

Deej
Thank you David.
All the best for the holiday season.

Very good song, and well sung. You have one of my favorite voices on the forum. I did feel like the vocal processing hid the beauty of your voice, which I've come to know well. Maybe it was the reverb. I've not noticed this on any of your past tracks, did you do something different this time? Might be an easy fix, or might just be my ears are in error. Still a worthy listen!
A nice sentiment expressed well in song.
