Hi everyone,

It is halfway january and I hadn't post a new song. Well here it is; After all
https://soundcloud.com/user-296497130/after-all_blues?si=38988cdd67dd401b9397ebf6c267c950&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing[size:11pt][/size]

By the way; can anyone tell me how I can hide this very long link behind the title of the song? You would help me a lot!

About the song: It's a Blues, a bit long and it has a cello and fiddle aboard. I thought that would be nice. I came to this, because earlier I sang some songs about a romance between my son and a Mexican girl. They broke up at the beginning of this year. Lot of fuzz, but also inspiration for a new song.

After I made it, I also created 2 other versions of the song too. The result was that I couldn't make a choice between them. I liked them all. So today I made the decicion for this one. Don't know why. but I'm thinking making 12 versions of this song during this year...

The lyrics are on soundcloud, so I only give some technical details here:
The style is (in this version) Cryblue, key: Am, tempo 65 bpm. swing in 12/8
RealTracks: 1922:Bas,
RealTracks: 3672:Piano, Acoustic
RealTracks: 1923:Guitar, Electric
RealTracks: 3723:Guitar, Electric, Soloist
RealTracks: 2876:Fiddle, Americana
RealTracks: 2052:Guitar, Acoustic
RealDrums : PopRock12-8^02-a:Sidestick, Kick, b:Snare, Kick
Cello : 2558: cello

I used trackspacer on the piano to make more space to the leadvocals. Thanks to Misha (Rustyspoon) for helping me!

I hope you like it. Let me know.
Hans

Love that bluesy intro Hans! Your vocals always irresistibly draw the listener into the song. This is a really good tune! The chorus is very nice...such a haunting blues type vibe! That guitar solo was such a great choice! Enjoyed it all the way through! Thanks, Torrey

Nice song, and cool harmonies!

12/8 blues sounds very good, as does your arrangement and vocals. Especially in stereo. laugh

I like TrackSpacer a lot - I find it useful for carving out space when a simple EQ won't do the trick.

You can create a link either using the full screen mode, or write it out manually using the url tag like this:

Code:
[url=https://www.soundcloud.com/user-296497130/after-all_blues]After All, Blues[/url]

That will give you: After All, Blues

Note that the url tag requires the www prefix, or it won't show the link properly.

There's no need to include any of the information after (and including) the ? in the SoundCloud link. That's just tracking information that SoundCloud uses to see where the links are shared.

Nice one. I like the vocals. They remind of Dr. John in a way. Cool music by the band.

Good one.

Super vocal and lyric Hans. The change in the vocal processing was very cool. Excellent backtrack.

Hi Hans,

This is my kinda music and enjoyed the whole song - I particularly liked the guitar work.

If you were to remix at any time (as you have suggested) I would like to hear the vocals more upfront to match the guitar.

Excellent song.

Best Regards
Nigel

Very, very Bluesy indeed Hans!!! You have a great voice for that genre!! Well done! Take care. Greg

Nice one, I like the concept about birds trying to reach the sun (and you knowing how far away it was). An interesting form of blues, not traditional at all. Solos were great. Good work!

I really enjoyed the song, and the singing, though I did find the frenzied electric guitar solos a bit overwhelming.

Nice work Hans. I really enjoyed your vocals and the understated lyrics.
The band was good too.
Cheers,
Mike

Excellent song, Hans!

Man, I love your vocal, really works well for bluesy type material.

I would back off on that lead guitar a little, especially that bit where you have it on top of the vocal. Vocal is always the star.

That cello was unexpected, but worked quite well I thought.

Enjoyed!

Lovely blues, although the ending feels bit too sad after the promising dreams.
I really enjoy the chord progression. Great selection of instruments, the soloist guitar is very special and the mourning fiddle in the end fits like a glove. Vocals are good as expected.

Hans,
You are good in your Blues makeover! I think you definitely should do more. Excellent vocals, composition and mix!
Gypsy style violin was a nice and unusual touch. Perhaps with next version you can interweave that violin with blues guitar solo so they <-> talk at the end? Good one. Sorry to hear about your son's emotional state. Enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

P.S. I stole idea of trackspacer from David C. from one of forum conversations smile Very cool and easy to use tool once you figure it out.
...12 versions... There must be a techno-rave-blues right?

Love it, Hans!! What a great blues feel. Great dose of passion in your vocal, Hans. The cello works really well, but the lead guitar seemed a bit loud in the mix, but that's simply a matter of taste.

About the long URL: I believe if you go back in to edit the song, you just click on the little pencil-like icon for the Permalink and change anything past the https://soundcloud.com/user-296497130/

Hi Bloc-Head,

I try doing what you wrote (thanks by the way), so I switched to the full reply screen on this forum, but from there there is nothing I can click on to change the url like you did.
I fear this is not my cup of tea...

Could you explain it more simple, please?

Thanks in advance,
Hans

Hi David, thanks for your comment on the song and -like Bloc-Head- for the help on that link.

If I copy your url: After All, Blues
Nothing happens here.

I did the same in an email, but also not the results you showed me. I'm getting old...

What did I do wrong?

Seems problem is over!!!

Happy Hans

That's a very nice comment you gave. Thanks for that!
As you have noticed I wasn't sure about this slow Blues, so I made some more versions in all kinds of variations.
I just altered this song a bit, because of the justified comments on the loudness of the leadguitar.

Have a nice day,
Hans

There's a very strong "halo" around your vocals...more noticeable in the 1st verse...cause by the processing etc. It's not a bad thing but noticeable.
Good lyric and a nice slow blues.
Is the chorus vocal leaning a little to the left? Is that to balance the harmony vocal?

Hans,

Very cool slow, bluesy sound. Good song! Strong.

Good production. Nice mix.

You are hitting on all cylinders...

Well done.

"I often watch birds reaching for the sun
That's because I am a dreamer
I roughly know how far the sun is away
But I love to see them trying it every day
These nice things color my days
Preventing me from thinking of you"

Man, there is some GREAT imagery in this song.

You nailed the blues vibe with both your vocals and the arrangement.

The somewhat foreboding backing sets up a great contrast with the lyric. Nice.

Your band is excellent. The solos sound really good -- the guitar and fiddle.

And Janice wanted to be sure and mention how much she (and I ) like your phrasing.

What to say? How about GREAT!

Hi Jtpjtpjtp, Scott, Nigel and Greg,

Oh man, I was busy heading some huge problems with BiaB! Still not solved. I think it has to do with those bugs in version 2022!
And I noticed I'm am worse than a donkey. That animal learns after hitting a stone. I buy BiaB for 6 years now and always around December/January. Always it has a lot of bugs in it and everyone tells me to wait till March or something, but I don't. Well, this one was my price I still owned from the company from febuary last year. But beside that, I am facing a lot of problems.
That is what makes me react tooooo late on your so nice comments. Yelling sorry does not ease your pain, I realize. But if you have a bit the same impulse I have on buying BiaB too quick, you will recognize it (I hope).

Hi JPT (and so on); I don't know doctor John, only doctor Hook, but he must be awsome! Thanks for your comment!

Hi Scott, thanks for your nice comment. In a way I was happy that relation broke up. It gave me inspiration ;-). And I must admit, my wife was happy too, although we will miss her. I really think of making severall versions of this song...

Hello Nigel, thanks man, for your post. I had done a remix and had your words in mind, as remarkt upon the loudness of the solo guitar.
I believe it is solved by now. Not by making my voice louder, but the guitar less loud.

Hi Greg, yes I like singing Blues songs, although the theme is sooo much played, that makes it difficult to distinguish yourself.

Thank you all and have a very nice day today,
Hans
