This one reflects my observations of our current human condition.
People embracing wild conspiracies, authoritative leaders and fostering hate instead of love.

One line is 'We've got a bad disease".
That is not a reference to COVID it's a disease of anger, hate and tribal behavior that seems to have infected too many people.

----------Lyrics-----------

Can you tell me, Where my world has gone
What the hell, Is going on
We've got laser beams and broken dreams
And nobody knows what the truth means
Like the tower of Babylon

Oooh Oooh Ooooh

Can you tell me where, The truth has gone
Is there anything, That we can agree upon
We've got laser beams and broken dreams
Nobody knows what the truth means
And nothing left to me counting on

Ooo Ooo Oooo

Can anybody tell me, what's going on
What's going on Ooooh Ooooh Ooooh

We’ve got crazy schemes , Angry themes
That tear us down Ooooh Ooooh Oooh

Can you tell me, where the love has gone
How can we, Can we carry on

We've got a bad disease, And nobody's free
Without everyone Ooooh Ooooh Ooooh

Where has my world gone…………..

Hello Moto
A lot of truth packed into a great song
Musically very well implemented
Vocals are a hit
The song has a strong melody that transports the theme really well
Your artwork idea is exactly fitting
Thanks for the great song, Moto
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

This is a very well done, but depressing song. Maybe you should move south for the winter...

Thanks,
Funny.....don't think I'll be moving south but, my observations suggest our disease is world wide.

Unique sound, good song and beautifully sung. Love the falsetto hints. Well done!

Captain,
Very neat tune. Indie Folk Rock? I give up smile Unique stuff. Reminds me of messages that bands like U2 and Cranberries conveyed during turbulent times. Timely subject matter. Very cool sound and vocal delivery!
There is always hope. As saying goes: "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." Thank you for sharing.

Hey Misha,
Thanks for dropping in.
"Indie Folk Rock" ??? I have to confess I do not understand genre labels.
I am always hopeful but concerned about our current direction.

Thanks for listening Scott,
Pretty simple lyrics but from the heart.

Nice song. Also it's delivered in a very believable manner. In other words you were really feeling what you were singing and it came across in the delivery. That's what is important to me. Excellent job !! I also have a socially conscious song but it's probably not suited for the forum :-)
Posted By: Jim Fogle Re: World Gone - 01/28/22 11:04 PM
I like the background harmony vocals. They are well positioned as they are present enough to hear but not not overly loud to be intrusive.

The tempo seems to change in spots.

I also listened to "Bad Like You". Neat song to listen to. Is the foot thump an effect or did you record it?

Thanks for listening Jim,
Funny you should mention the backing vocals, the original mix had those too present and a friend suggested I dial it back.........good advise.
The Tempo is consistent but, the energy builds.

About "BAd Like You" the percussion is me slapping the guitar.
Thanks for noticing.

This has elements of Tom Rapp & Pearls Before Swine.
Questioning narrative,
Committed vocal,
Supportive band.
Tres Cool!

Morning Captain,

Man, you are on a roll lately!

Love your vocal, maybe your best yet I think, and the guitar is right in the pocket.

Might be my new favorite from you, excellent song!

YEAH!! Man, right from the start this is captivating, Moto. Excellent vocal and quite a range, man. [I've got an answer for you. It's what no one ever wants to talk about. Overpopulation.] Right after this one played Bad Like You came on. I know I told ya I love that song, and it's worth repeating. Breaks over. I had to go back to World Gone to continue here. All your songs are worth countless listens, I like the way you build this song, and how you come in half way through in the higher register. Nice.

[P.S. Thanks for your comment on my song The Price. Since it was already on page 2, I didn't want to reply and bring it back to the top, but, man, I appreciate you.]

Thanks Dave,
I'm always very critical of my own vocals.
Recently, I've dialed in a decent signal path and effects chain that seems to be working for me.

Glad to hear that you liked it.

moto,

Really well done.

Good write. Simple, to the point, honest.

Excellent vocal. Super backing - nice "band". Good mix.

This has a very "now" sound - the Americana Singer Songwriter genre. It also is the type of song and sound that is used in a lot of movies and tv shows (the darker, pensive ones).

Good stuff.

Hey Marty,
Thank you so much for your support.
Most of my stuff is pretty simple ( guess that's my style ) anyways, I'm trying to focus more song structure and how the song develops. Based upon your kind comments, I'd guess my efforts might be effective, that's very rewarding.
I'm not sure what, if anything, you've changed as of late but, your vocals are very compelling.
The amount of good stuff showing up her can be overwhelming. If I don't check in for a few days it takes me hours to catch up with all the talent on display.

Thanks again,
moto

Lyrics to my taste, very strong message about the current times. Surprisingly melancholy approach, but it really works as a contrast to "Angry themes". Nice simple band with nice development. Enjoyed the vocals. Somehow reminded me of Martin Stephenson and the Daintees.

Nice and moody, with the vocal delivery fits nicely.

As floyd jane said, an update of the folk tradition.

So nice. You hit the sweet spot with that electric guitar wailing in the distance and vocals, especially when they went up a notch (key, register, whatever it's called). Easy listening. Lyrics are right on. Well done Cap.

As floyd alluded to it has a cinematic feel.
This would sit nicely in a lot of the better series we watch.

Your soulful vocal took us back to a bluesy Guy Clark feel.
Nice ooohs.

The write is outstanding. No need to parse it out...it's all good.

Great band and mix ... the organ was an excellent choice.

Well done,

Deep, thought provoking song Captain! I loved the passionate vocal on this! Anyone should be able to relate to this with all that is going on in our world!

On a side note, it would be interesting to hear this with minimal or no drums, slowed a bit. But still great as is! Thanks, Torrey

Mr. Moto...

I worry about the same things your lyrics are concerned about, and I congratulate you on your sensitivity to what's going on and having the courage to put your thoughts into musical form.

Personally, I believe the solution to the world problems you are lamenting over is so simple that it takes an act of willful blindness not to see it, but it would be improper for me to pursufe that line of thought here in the User's Forum.

Regardless, your song expresses palpable emotions that your Real Track selections magnify in a compelling way. Your vocal performance is heart-felt, too. The production radiates a sense of quiet despair, but also manages to keep a small light of hope burning as well.

It's a needful addition to the User's Forum archives.

blueage,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments.
I can be the judge of my own songs but, I can say, the ones that seem to be received well are those that speak to current events.
Most of my songs are rooted in my observations of the world around me.

Thanks again

So simple yet deep. Loved your voice, the general sad vibe (it didn't depress me, it touched me). This tune could be a film score, I had plenty of images while listening to it!

Hi Captain,

This is a very sensitive and beautiful song.
It's extra sweet when the high vocals come in.
Simple but very effectively performed.
I only have one but; it's too short!

I enjoyed it very much,
Hans

More Moto Magic from the good Captain.

"This one reflects my observations of our current human condition.
People embracing wild conspiracies, authoritative leaders and fostering hate instead of love."

Small nit. I just need to know some specific examples for your dismay to fully engage with the intended message.... Or perhaps I shouldn't think so much and just enjoy your song.
Excellent emotive vocal delivery and backing band. Well Done.

Hey Gary,
Thanks for listening and providing input.
I think I unstained your "nit".
As an example of my motivation, we had a congress woman blame laser beams from space as the cause of California wild fires......that to me, is a complete disconnect from reality and the truth.
I suppose I could have been more direct in my lyrics to inform the listener but, I choose to keep it less specific.
I'd have to agree with your observation though.
It's the writer's responsibility to inform and engage the listener.
