In My Eye

Flyin' blind in space and time, trying to find, a little peace of mind
People come, and then they go just like the leaves from trees when the wind blows
In my life, nothin ever seemed just right, I could find no joy in the day or the night
Then she came into my sight, and I could finally see the light
I got love in my eye.

Now in my life everything's alright, she makes me feel so alive
I saw the light when I got love in my eye.

When I first saw the light, I thought that I would lose my sight,
For the rest of my life, I'd go blind.
But the love of my life agreed to be my wife, and now everything is lookin' fine
When I realized I had love in my eye, no mater how hard I tried, I couldn't find a reason why.
Then I could see the love she had for me, She could see the love in my eye

Now she's my wife, and everything's alright, she makes me feel so alive.
I saw the light when I got love in my eye.
( Saxamafone Solo )

Bird on a wire won't need to fly higher, when he can see everything that he needs.
It always looks better when thers's a change in the weather and nothin' is ever as it seems.

Now everything looks bright, and everyone's allright, She's still the love of my life.
I see the light cause I've got Love In My Eye...

I originally wrote and recorded this song for my wife several years ago, and I usually play it for her on Valentine's holiday... she must like it 'cause we're still together after many years...

I'm Singing, and playing Acoustic & Electric Guitars.
Midi Keys: Electric Piano, Organ fills, Bass & Drums.

BiaB RealTracks in song:
382:Guitar, Slide, Background Blues Ev 085
~673:Organ, B3, Background Blues BB Ev 085
? Sax Solo
This is a really cool vibe. Catchy tune, strong lyric.
I got the feeling that the backing band instruments were warmer than the vocals (which, by comparison seemed distant and less resonant) but maybe that was the recording/mixing style in the 80s. Feel free to correct me if I'm off the mark there. wink
Well worth a second listen.

I did a lot of analog audio production in the '70's &'80s, but this tune was produced in Cakewalk Sonar around 2010, with a few tweaks since... I have a version somewhere with a much better vocalist, maybe I can dig it up... Thanks big-time for the feedback.
A really good song!
The melody is so nice.
Your voice might need some "warming up" like Ghostgum said, but even without that, it's a fine song.
Well done!

Hi Bloc-Head,

This is another excellent song. I'm a huge Little Feat fan and this would have made Lowell George a happy man.

Don't worry about another vocalist - you have nailed it!

keep em coming - please.

Best Regards
Nigel
You ain't no blockhead on this one!

This is a super song for a loved one. Expertly played and mixed.

Warming the vocal may help but I found nothing wrong with this vocal.

Fantastic song

Thanks so much Nigel, I too, am a huge LF fan... Lowell was one of my Heroes... Always good to read your comments, and looking forward to hearing more of your music.
Hey Bloc...first off you had me at the intro...nice melody and I love the groove of the bass and the B3 sold me completely...great harmonies...the saxes are "very saxy"...as usual your mix is tight and so appealing...if she didn't love you before writing this it surely must have sealed the deal...great write and great performance.
Really well done!

I agree with Nigel, your vocal sounds great to me. As does the rest of the track, good performance and arrangement.

Keep them coming, I'm a fan smile

am too... grin;-)
Thanks Mario... those are some very nice comments.
bloc-head,

A very cool song.

Super opening! Nice acoustic chops.

Killer vocal and BGVs (opinion: a bit too much high-end EQ - kinda "crispy" - slightly lifts the vocal out-of-the-mix).

A good write. Outstanding melody. Reminds me of the best of Huey Lewis (not that it sounds like Huey, but has that excellent commercial Pop Rock magic).

A great listen.

You've got talent.

I don't wanna give away too much, but we've been married to each other for most of our lives, so I guess that deal was sealed long before I wrote this song... She's a lucky gal. grin;-) Thanks for the friendly words...
Enjoying now. Thank you. I can't add to the praise without repeating it, but it is well deserved.

Googled "saxamaphone" to see if it was something real and almost got fooled when Google silently substituted "saxophone".
Great intro, catchy beat, nice write. Nice vocals, too.

I like this one a lot. laugh

That said... there's something squeaky in the left channel that's distracting. I think it's guitar strings. I actually had to switch from speakers to my headphones just to make sure I wasn't hearing things.

Thanks Mark... I tried to learn the saxamafone, but I sucked at it, and just couldn't make it work... but the RT soloist, I used on this project, nailed it... don't know his name, but this cat can blow...

This is really enjoyable.

I really like the lyrics, and the phrasing is really neat.

Vocally superb. Musically perfect/.

Well done, no question.
Hi Bloc-Head,

the lyrics are super well written and endearing. The melody is pretty and the orchestration very pleasant. Well done.

Thanks David, you have a good ear... I believe the "squeaky" you're hearing is string noise from my Santa Cruz acoustic guitar... it's pretty loud in the mix... I tried to mask it with the Electric Piano, but then finally just decided to ignored it... Good Ears David.

Thanks for listening Trevor, and thanks for all your help & advice on the main BiaB forum.
Hello bloc-head
Excellent song
From beginning to end
Your singing is absolutely great
The whole song so well arranged
And the organ solo that goes into the sax solo - brilliant
I like it very much
many greetings
Andi ;-)
Lovely Valentine's Day song, very romantic story.
Enjoyed the vocals and especially the nice backing vocals.
Great band, nicely rolling rhythm, everything works perfectly.
I got some Eric Clapton's Change The World vibe in the instrumental part chords & guitar combination.

Janne
bloc-head,

Love the opening of this—those acoustic guitars are really engaging. And then it slips into a cool 70’s vibe, that reminds me of Hall & Oates or something similar. Actually, at times, it even has a Clapton feel on some of those guitar licks. Terrific set of lyrics and melody. Really well done tune from start to finish. And love that sax solo! Sweet tune!

All my best to you,

Deej

Sounds good. You remind me of Little Feat. Great guitar playing. The band hit all the right notes too.
Your wife has excellent taste, bloc-head. An excellent write and a good production. You do such a good matching the lyrics and melody with the perfect band choice, and then do an an excellent job mixing all of them together with the right piece shining at the right time. And you still manage to keep everything so clear and separate.
Nice write, everything fits together perfectly.
Vocals sound fantastic.

Thanks... I've heard that LF reference before... I've met most of the members of the Feats, post Lowell, and love them. Thanks for the friendly words...

Outstanding song. I got a bit of a Beatles Blackbird vibe on that guitar intro.

Well written lyrics. Nice vocal hook. Nothing to complain about there IMHO.

The mix is nicely done. Everything is nice and clear. What more can you want?

Thumbs up on this. I'll bet your wife loved this song.
