Hello, forum friends

After a little blank, this is my first post of this year.
I often go to listen to live performances at our local jazz clubs.
One day I met a wonderful female jazz pianist at one of the clubs, which is over 10 years ago.
So I asked my collaboration with her hesitatingly.
As I received a reply with OK, we recorded some songs in a local music studio after that.
This song is one of the songs recorded at that time.

For the convenience of the budget, only Piano part was live recorded and other parts were produced by Band-in-a-Box(MIDI).
I preserved the recordings at that time, but regrettably they were just stereo sources and the mix balances were bad, so I had not post them to the forum so far.

Recently I got the software called SpectraLayers Pro 8 from Steinberg.
The software can un-mix stereo sources into 5 tracks (Vocal, Piano, Bass, Drums, and others.)
Therefore, it is possible to fix the bad balance of the sound sources.
This time I would like to post the re-mixed version by SpectraLayers.
Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Summary of lyrics

I wipe the cloudy window glass with my finger
And I am looking for a wide back reminiscent of you
While watching the city from the window

The cup in my hand still remains warm a little
But I feel the distance between us through the cup
Which is getting cold little by little

I was attracted to your lonely eyes
Appealing to me no place to go back
But you stopped temporarily and gave me only a sigh

I was supposed to know that such a day would come
But even now I cannot say goodbye to you well
You still remain in the corner of my heart

While I am waiting for you in my room
Where you once stopped by a passing fancy
I don’t know at all what should I do

Clouds are gradually covering the city
Also wrapping my tears and sorrows
And I believe I was happy at the moment you loved me
My first trip back to the Users Showcase in a while. It's a joy to hear your work again and enjoyed the song and top level performance.

Charlie
Wonderful performances... very impressive.
Jazz waltzes are always fun to listen to. Syncopation and the unbalanced 3/4 meter are a great combination.

Vocals are good, as is the backing. Sounds like a good recording, nothing problematic that I hear.

And.. nice song, too! smile
Hi animarorecords,

Nice intimate atmosphere. Composition very rich in jazzy variations which please and retain the ear.

Kindly regards

What a wonderful mix and I love the jazz 3/4 feel, Shigeki Adachi. I can see (and hear) why you wanted Miya Nakajima in the studio. She is so good. You surround yourself and your songs with such talent like Miya Nakajima. You are an accomplished master of your music, man, and I am so happy you share your talents here.
Shigeki Adachi,

This is up to your usual high standards.

The mix sounds good. Balanced well.

Miya Nakajima does a nice job on piano.
Natsuki Yoshikawa does an excellent vocal.

I enjoyed the listen. Good music.

Excellent jazz piece well sun, mixed and played.

A treat.

There is nothing wrong with this.

Fantastic piano, vocal, and mix.

You nailed the jazz 3/4 waltz perfectly.

Loved it
Lovely work.
I did notice quite a change when the vocal started...there seems to be a fair chunk of bottom end care of the proximity effect of nouth & mic. I could be wrong but it jumped straight out at me.
The mix seems a little lighter and less muddy when the vocal backs off.
That pianist is amazing - very melodic in all that stretching.
That is a lovely production and we are happy to see you back on the forum!

The extraction of the tracks is amazing.

We love waltzes and this is beautiful with the vocal and piano.

Great re-working of your song!

The turbidity of the mix with the addition of vocals is probably due to SpectraLayers.
Or it may be due to the original sound source.
I would like to analyze it.
I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Fantastic,

This is so bright, so vocally great, and the choice of a Jazz Waltz is extremely refreshing.

Miya Nakajima's piano performance is absolutely superb. Everything about this truly shines.
Nice, a jazz waltz!
Great piano and voice.

Rob and Anne-Marie
Beautifully romantic descriptive lyrics. So much melancholy present and then the lovely vocalist brings the story very much alive. Very French mood. Great backing band. Surely it would be great to see her singing live.

Ohayō gozaimasu Shigeki Adachi smile

It's 11:00 a.m. here in Melbourne, Australia, right now and I've just come back from listening to "Sigh" on Soundcloud.

This gif below pretty much shows you what my Soundcloud experience was like. It's a pity that the little dude is conducting in 2/4. I was waving my arms around in 3/4 smile Still, I think the image works apart from that little imperfection.

This is absolutely wonderful music.

The musicians that are in your circle of friends are truly extraordinary. I always love listening to Natsuki Yoshikawa sing. She has such a beautiful voice. And I must compliment Miya Nakajima on her piano playing. The finesse with which she played jazz piano was as professional as anything I've ever heard. In addition, your EastWest Goliath MIDI drums and bass were a perfect fit!

By every measure (pun intended), this was exquisite listening!

All the very best,
Noel
Very nice. It has a cabaret feel. Great piano playing. The vocals are clear and well presented. The lyrics are lovely (translation sheet).

Love the live instrument and vocal.
You've done a great job supplementing that with BIAB and mixing.

I want to join this chorus of gratitude for such work.
I want to join this chorus of gratitude for such work. The music and vocals are mesmerizing. I will now advise a friend to listen to your compositions. He is just beginning to learn about jazz. He downloads the tracks at https://mp3-converter.mymp3.red/. How cool that you have the opportunity to gather around the same talented performers. One disadvantage I find here - we need to hear more of your new compositions. LOL, I can only hope that many more of your compositions will please my ears. THANK YOU
Hi Shigeki
Great song with excellent vocals
The sound is very good
Really good work
Many greetings

Shigeki,

Outstanding composition! Jazz is perhaps the least approachable genre for me; always a challenge for me to hold onto the song. But this is just a wonderful arrangement, so well mixed. That piano work is excellent . . . as is the vocal. Terrific listen!

Hope all is well in your world,

Deej
