A song I wrote for my 95 year old mother, who would have been 100 last New Year's Day...

Earline

Earline, I got somethin’ brand new,
Earline, I wrote this song just for you.
You we’re the baby of the family,
Prettiest flower on the family tree… Earline…

Earline, when you we’re sweet sixteen,
Earline, coulda’ been a Delta Queen,
Sweetest gal, ever seen,
Shoulda’ been a model in a magazine, Earline

Earline, What on earth is wrong wit chu,
Earline, Still can’t believe that it was true
I can remember the words you said,
when you told me you had eyes in the back of yo head,
Earline… now I know what you mean…
~ Solos ~
Earline, won’t you come on out and play,
Earline, It’s almost Mother’s Day,
I don’t expect we’ll make the scene,
I just thought I’d buy you some Ice Cream, Earline.
~ Solo ~
New year’s baby back in 1922, old father time’s been pretty good to you…
Sweetest gal I’ve ever seen, Coulda been a model in a magazine, Earline… I love you…

BiaB Realtracks include National Resonator Guitar, Drums, Bass, Acoustic Piano, Vintage Electric Piano, Fiddles, Horn Section, and Brent Mason Guitar Solos.

I wrote and sang all Vocal parts... Played Guitar & Organ.
Mixed & Mastered in Cakewalk Sonar

Very cool song. Loved the intro. Love how things started to slide into alignment and then the band kicked in. Loved it.

Hi Bloc-head,

This is another good song from you and reminds me of early Rolling Stones - maybe something from the Beggars Banquet album era.

Keep up the great work.

Best Regards
Nigel

That's really sweet, to be able to do that, in such a nice song. I thought for a while about recording something when my mother died but paled before the idea of trying to capture the loss. Maybe some day I can try it your way.

This is a really good one. I loved that it was about you're mom - unique and original and a cool, toe-tappin' vibe. Puts a smile on my face. I'd like to do something like this someday - inspiring!

After reading your description, I certainly never expected what followed.

What a fantastic tribute.

Your Mother must have been a wonderful funny person.

Knockout arrangement, absolutely.

BH,
Nice tribute. Very well put together and performed. The sound reminds me of some of ELO tunes.
Thank you for sharing.

What a great tribute to your Mama - the lyric, performances - the total package!

Our Mama’s would’ve loved hearing this and they both would’ve said, “isn’t he sweet!”

We love the photo of your Mama also!

After the intro the vocal made this sound very Rocky Burnett.
Personally I prefer the groove of the intro.
The vocal gets really loud and seems strident in a couple of frequencies.
The progression & melody are cool & the narrative is really good.

bloc-head,

All of the comments, including mine, cannot do this justice! This song is a thing of beauty! It's hit worthy, catchy and worth many, many listens!
You are producing music that this forum needs to put on a pedestal as a shining example of what can be done using BIAB! I really hope the folks at PG Music are taking note of the consistent high-level work that you are sharing! I appreciate all of it! Thanks, Torrey

This is one kick-a$$ song! Whoa Nellie! You having written for your mother increases its value ten-fold.

Everything is sounding good and sounding hot.

Man, what a wonderful tribute to your mom, bloc-head. Glad I'm hearing it on Mother's Day. You stacked this with some terrific musicians, including yourself, and sang those words with a very affectionate heart. What a great song. I bet she loved it!

This is the 5th or 6th time I've listened to this. Just now getting around to commenting - lots going on.

What a knock-out sound! Great lyric, terrific band and hell of a vocal! You've put up a lot of fine music for us to listen to. I think your Mom is smiling!

Bloc-head:

First off, the vocal is just killer—really well done and mixed (though a couple of noted seem on the high end). I thought out of the gate the music bed sounded a bit busy, but it settled in thereafter, and gained momentum. Wow, the more I listen, that vocal is really sweet . . . and the BGVs are stellar. Really nice job!

Best regards,

Deej

Cool song Bloc-head. Has a real rockin' vibe.

I think I have asked this before. Are you selling your song for $10 a piece on Band Camp?

Thanks David... I did sell one a while back in spite of the high price, but no, I'm deliberately trying not to sell them on this page... thus the 10x price... I do have most of my original music available for download at a normal low price on a different site.

Like many, I really don't know what I'm doing, but I'm pretty sure I'm not looking for fortune & fame in the so-called music biz... whatever that is now.

edit;
and another thing... the advertisements on SoundClod are really sucking a lot of the fun out of listening, for me.
