Hello Chris,
Very nice hoarse, smoked vocals (if you call it like that in English) and with lyrics so beautifully written.
It always sounds more special when it is sung in French, at least that how my wife and I think of it when hearing these chansons in a movie.
You can picture that man, walking with a sigaret, with a hat, the collar of his long coat up, at night and the scene in black and white.
