What I'd Do For Your Kiss on Soundcloud
What I'd Do For Your Kiss on You Tube
--which sounds like an odd title itself.

The chorus is something I'd often say to my wife. It's kind of my way of saying Hayna or Ain't it. You know, the rise in inflection at the end of a statement that asks for confirmation from the listener. In French it's “n'est-ce pas,” some Canadian's say, “eh.” Yeah, I've been talking with Stefan Crossroads a lot lately, and he's so well learned in languages. Anyway, I thoroughly appreciate all comments.

What I'd Do For Your Kiss

California sunset sky holding back the sea tonight.
Once your eyes are satisfied we'll go home.
Breathing in all the cool night air, we stroll the beach without a care.
We'll wave goodbye to moonlit skys, and finally we're alone.

CH: You know what I mean. You know where I'm comin' from. You know where I'm goin' with this.
You know what I mean to say. You know what I'm gettin' at. You know what I'd do for your kiss.

Sometimes we may find ourselves among a crowd of wishing wells.
Soon enough we'll have had enough and head home.
Before we sleep we'll relax a bit soaking up the feel of it,
Turn out the lights and say good night, and finally we're alone. CH

BR: Ask me to lasso the moon and the stars. Tell me just what I should do.
I'll buy a big house and a couple of cars. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you.

Marty, catchy chorus and relaxing swingy island sound to it. Quite a different sound than "Bad Advice" or some of your others.
the blues have made it to the islands! You are a very versatile musician!

Good song with good vocals and a catchy chorus.

Well done - one of your best!

Marty,
nice one - good ensemble...def has a slow Kokomo feel.
The only thing that jumped at me was that your voice seems unusually sibilant on this one.
Mr Bell rings it as expected.

Really cool groove to this song Marty. Think it had allot to do with the very cool bass lines. Loved the vocal and catchy lyrics. Daves guitar was excellent as well. Cool tone. Well done

Marty...what a sweet song...I think you just wrote the perfect anniversary song...it's light and fun but gets right down to the brass tacks...as usual, you and Dave can really lay down the most appropriate tracks for your songs...your vocals are really cool on this song...AND another cool video!...5 stars man!

Marty,

This listens very well! Have I ever told you that you've got a great voice? If not shame on me! This song is a joy to listen to! Your harmonies are beautiful! You and Dave both did an excellent job on your respective instruments! Floyd nailed it with the Island feel comment! I always smile when I see a new post from you because I know it's going to be good!

Thanks, Torrey

Aren't we men all beggars?
I hope I'm not,... and if I am I hope I can disguise it properly ;-).

That being said your song sounds cozy, sunny and Pro all the way. That backing vocal on the chorus and the bridge (!) work a charm as well.

And then there's Dave's (more Dave Gilmour sound this time) power guitar.

All good :-).

Nice!!! :-) Made me smile, the whole way through. What a feel-good song! Nice one :-)

The solo at 2:35 is super, and nothing short of it. Love the brief, percussive introduction to it.

Your voice is so mellow and relaxed and generally cool, it's wonderful to hear! :-)

Definitely one of the best I've heard from you. There's always a litmus test with me, and that's this: do I go back for a second listen? If so, the song is more than just good - and I'm listening again and again to this one :-)

Joyous and joyful.

Thank you, Dani, Scott, Brad, Nigel, Scott C., Dan, Torrey, Ray C., Mario, Rob, Eric, James & Bob. I thoroughly appreciate all of your comments, They drive me to the next song. Our 7-year old granddaughter Charley takes up a lot of time (with no complaints from me) in the summer, so I must hurry to hear some new treats here by you folks.

Ray, you're right. I seem to be having even more trouble with sibilance. I always think of you and your sound advice when I process the vocals. Not sure if this recent trouble is because of too much reverb, proximity to mic or if it's just this old-guy mouth of mine. I'm working on it. Thanks again.

Fun song catchy chorus and feel and loved your vocal and the harmony - I reckon I could've just quoted FJ and said "ditto". grin

Way to go Marty!! Kind of a Jimmy Buffett sound going there, and I listened all the way through, great song!!

Marty,

What a wonderful tune! Love those internal rhymes throughout, which makes that stand-out melody all the more engaging. And, boy, that chorus is catchy . . . This song really falls sweet on the ears. Just the right feel on your vocal to take this song up a notch and, of course, Dave’s stellar guitar playing. Wow, really sweet song!

Well done, gents—

Thanks for listening and commenting. Very encouraging words folks. Josie, we can never go wrong quoting Floyd. Interesting pictorial comment, maryyyleg. Thanks, Ronnie. I like the JB reference. Thanks, Deej. I like how you find the little things that often make a big difference. Thanks for listening, Jona. Thanks, Andi. You are truly an inspiration in many ways.

I recently listened to Elvis Costello and thought that he sounds like Marty smile And this one is no exception, lyrics that make me smile, California & beach mood cools in the middle of the heat wave. Enjoyed the vocals, the backing ones especially in the bridge, the smooth melody, Dave's guitar, steel drums and the mix.

Marty,

This sounds really good!

Excellent song, mix, vocals, everything.

Totally pro.

A rich, warm professional sound. Great job!

“There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”

Janice the romantic loved that line, Marty! And was singing harmony with you smile

What a joyous song this is and your vocals sound great. We love those doodedoo’s on the bridge and tight harmonies on the chorus too. Janice also pointed out those “yes you do” lines as real treats.

Dave’s guitar is excellent (nice, fat tone!) as is your bass and the BiaB fellas are smooth.

The video is great and made us wish we were in a cabin in the mountains near a beach in California. smile The yin yang was a nice addition too.

Enjoyed it!

Thanks, Janne, but I wouldn't mention that to Elvis. When stated mumbling lyrics for this one, Arizona sunset sky was what came out at first. Needed to change it to California to bring in the beach. Thanks, David. Man, your new one is out of this world. Love what you do, sir. Thank you, Janice & Bud. That's thrilling with you singing along, Janice. You guys always make me feel good about my songs. "Yes you do."
