An Ominous Noise

Another quick throw-together from a week or so back. I'm terrible with names for instrumentals but this is what came to mind. Maybe simply "Ominous" would have been a better choice. Anyway, here it is:

I changed just about everything from the original style (Doodad Ambient, etc.), except I kept the bass and original drums. I added two more drum parts and the lead guitar.

Al...this is really cool...I would have called it "Cool Hand"...it's got that kinda jazz/funk/country vibe...if there were such a thing....don't know what it is but I sure dig it! great instrumental as usual...love the stuff you produce!

A good crisp mix and I'm liking what you did with the percussion.
To me it has a nice bouncy overall feel.

Very cool sound going on here Al. I wouldn't even know where to begin to try to put together an instrumental, and you are a master. Loved the guitar work was nice and I liked the percussion in there as well. The mix was terrific.

With the percussion and the guitar it has a bit Santana vibe...I like that.

You are the man with the full on BiaB writes and productions.

It sounds great ... like studio musicians who've long been working together.

Those multiple drum tracks are amazing! Great choice on the solo RT also.

Most cool!

Alan,

Excellent.

You ALWAYS do a great job of putting together a solo guitar track!
(...and all the others sound great, too).

Excellent mix.

A bit of a Jeff Beck vibe to this - like it came right off one of his records.
Impressive.
Loved it.

You picked the right lead tone to stretch across the shuffling, backing.
Lovely textures added ---cool.

Lovey work. A cohesive instrumental and you always get the guitar tracks sounding like a solo rather than a bunch of licks.

Very nice.

Quickly thrown together as it may be, it sounds really good! The mix is powerful and crystal clear.

You've made an excellent choice with the Brent soloist (his RTs are always awesome).

Well done.

Love it. The driving rhythm, hypnotic beat, powerful mix with timely held chords for variation. It all makes for a great track - one that would fit well in a movie or TV.

HI Dan ...

You are much too kind. But thank you for the really nice comments. And your suggested title would work quite nicely, too! I may use it in one I;ve working on, as time permits for the past several days\. Again, many thanks!

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the comment about the percussion. I worked as hard on that as I did everything else combined. Many thanks!

Hey Folks!

Well, how does one reply appropriately to such nice comments? "Sounds like studio musicians" is one of the nicest comments a BIAB user can get. I appreciate it very much. Take care ...

Alan,

It's a dark but cool sounding piece! Love the rhythm section you assembled in this I feel it's perfect for the tune! I keep setting the bar higher on these instrumentals!

Thanks, Torrey

Alan,

I’ve listened to a few instrumentals this morning—all so different in style, but all really impressive works. This stands shoulder to shoulder with them all. Really good stuff—excellent arrangement and mix.

Title wise—I’m not sure “Ominous” quite fits the vibe of the tune . . . but then again I’m terrible at naming songs (and that’s when they actually have lyrics, LOL!).

Hope all is well in your world,

Deej
