Hope there's You

Originally written by Anne-Marie in 2016. We recorded it with BIAB, but somehow it doesn't sound like a BIAB song at all.

In the song, Anne-Marie paints a portrait in words of how her final moments might be. Tender and emotional lyrics.

I thought this song deserved a thorough Remaster and Remix. I made it my goal to capture the intimacy of the vocal and put it to the front as much as possible. Yet without making it too hot in the mix.

I hope I succeeded...

Hope there's You

Wake me for a midnight song
Wake me for a midnight poem
Save me when the morning comes
Save me from my growing older

Let me float in your arms
Take me with you, let me glide
Let me lie in your arms
Keep me with you, let me hide

And when you'll be there, I'll go beyond
Stay with me, lay with me, stay close together
Wait for relief then, wait for respite
Wait till the morning comes

Dreaming about the days gone by
They were filled with love and laughter
Everything I had in mind
Fantasies for ever after

Let me drift in your arms
Rock me softly, lift me up
Draw me closer to your heart
Let me break away from the dark

Don't leave me lonely, don't step aside
Don't leave me on my own, don't desert me
Share my hours, share my minutes
Share my seconds now

Wake me with a midnight song
Wake me with a midnight choir
Love me till the morning comes
Hold me, when time expires

Rob and Anne-Marie...I love the different movements in this piece...Anne-Marie's voice is so beautiful...I really like the harmonies and blend of the voices...there are so many interesting and captivating chord changes...and the ending is perfect as the "heartbeat" fades into the distance...an intriguing song to say the least...well done!

What an awesome song. Lovely vocal Anne-Marie Beautiful harmonies. Reminded me of Kate Bush. Back track was perfect. The cello was a really nice add. Well done....

Very nice song Rob and Anne-Marie. Anne-Marie has a very pretty voice and she uses it very well here. I can see why you wanted to get it out front Rob, and you did a very good job at that too. I liked your use of the cello, and I really liked the drums - they made for a powerful ending IMHO. Thanks for giving us a chance to listen.

Rob and Anne-Marie, this is fantastic.
Super vocal and harmonies - Anne-Marie has a great voice.
I also liked the chord progression and instrumentation - cello - brilliant.
WOW what an ending - again brilliant.

Loved it

This is so lovely!!

Just gorgeous.

I could listen to songs like this all day long. Make an album like that.

P.S.

The "when time expires" line inflection at the end reminds me of Noe Venable.

So beautifully sung, Anne-Marie, and a really cool idea for a song. Such a good song it is, too. Wow, Rob, you really did a terrific job of capturing "the intimacy of the vocal." The accompaniment builds as if guiding, or influenced by, the lifting spirit. I like how the heartbeat turns into a soulbeat at the end.

Rob & Anne-Marie,
I like the hypnotic rhythm you arranged behind such an intimate vocal. Its a fine write and your spare treatment compliments the lyrics very well. The cello held back like that and heartbeat ending are awesome.
Very well worth the revisit.

Lovely vocals, interesting arrangement. Cello instrumental is great.

I think you succeeded with your mix goals - bringing the intimate vocal up front without getting too hot - really well.

Love the ticking of the drums when the vocal ends. If someone hadn't been paying attention to what the song was about, the final line and instrumentation makes it abundantly clear!

You guys produced a very intimate song.
Great job, you definately succeeded in your goal.

Nice song and I loved the subject matter. Interesting take on something that usually gets a non-secular treatment but certainly doesn't need to, and that is refreshing. Someone mentioned Kate Bush and I certainly hear that, although the voices are obviously quite different. Great work!

Poetic lyrics handles the subject warmly and romantically. Anne-Marie's soft and beautiful voice fits the lyrics and the gentle melody. After reading the lyrics first I wondered how the ending "expires" would work, and its fading sounded simply perfect after hearing it.
Enjoyed the chord progression, especially "don't leave me lonely" part together with the cello and the backing vocals is hauntingly beautiful. Mixed very well, the cello fills nicely the spacious room.

You definitely succeeded in your goal, Rob. Beautiful!

Anne Marie’s vocal and harmonies are gorgeous. The lyric got Janice teary eyed immediately and these lines got our attention for sure:

“Dreaming about the days gone by
They were filled with love and laughter
Everything I had in mind
Fantasies for ever after”

So well done,

Very unusual tune. All different parts came nicely together. Dark subject, but presented very softly. Great vocals! "Hold me, when time expires" nice. Very good and clear mix. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Scott.
Kate Bush... wow!
But there's a difference of at least one octave between her voice and mine smile

You have certainly succeeded in doing that. I think you could even add a dB or three to the vocals without overdoing it.

And your arrangement shows that drum loops can make all the difference when used properly, the end of the song is amazing.

A beautiful song with a beautiful voice about an interesting subject.

Rob & Ann-Marie,

Excellent song!
Ann-Marie's vocals are great.
Although it's a slow ballad, the backing has a euro hip-hop feel rhythm throughout the song, creating a unique mood.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Thanks, Torrey

Songs should make us feel something or reflect on something - yours most definitely does. I'm sitting here in silence now, but the music and lyrics are still playing in my mind. I'd say that means it's a keeper.
