This one is a bit more of an uptempo rocker than what you normally hear from us. Both audio and video links:
Walk the Walk (audio only) Walk the Walk (youtube video) You will need to put up with my vocal on this, the good news is we have a new one with Christiane on vocals that is almost ready for release
The Band: ~425:Organ, B3, Background Blues Sw 120. I used both the regular and the held chords version of this RealTrack.
Marty Straub from BabuMusic is on bass and BGV
I used EZDrummer3 for the drums, and I'm playing all the guitar parts.
Mixed in Reaper and Mastered with Ozone10.
Walk the Walk (2022, Dave Bell)I see you walk down the street, acting nonchalant,
pretending that you just don't care.
The way you hold your head, the way you strut your stuff,
displays a certain kind of savoir-faire.
You got that special smile, and you've known all the while,
that it's meant to beguile
The way you walk the walk, the way you talk the talk
You know there's nothing, to compare
The way you move, and the way that you groove
leads me to conclude
That you know what you want and you know what to flaunt
you ain't no debutant
You got that certain flair, you got the devil may care
that left me blissfully unaware.
The way you walk the walk, the way you talk the talk
You know there's nothing, to compare
Chorus:
You gotta walk the walk for me, you gotta talk the talk for me
I hope you will agree, won't you listen to my plea? All comments welcome!
Dave and Marty,
That tune is a killer! Love the opening riff! This is a re-visit to the great blues/rock of yesteryear! Your guitar has a fabulous searing tone! Marty's bass is beautiful and your voices are blending perfectly! A great sounding tune!
Thanks, Torrey
Another great one from the "dangerously good duo".
Dave, loved the guitar work and Marty, that walking bass line is superb
This song and performance made me feel like I was listening to one of the great house bands out of Stax-Volt or Muscle Shoals. Intro was great and the whole thing just cooked! Really nice job, gents!
No problem putting up with that vocal, Dave. It's just fine. Marty's base is rock solid and your guitar is smokin'. Excellent work.
Regards,
Leon
Smoking solo and walking bass...
The two male vocals work well together.
COOOOL.
Hello Dave and Marty
Exceptionally good song
Everything fits together here
Your voice is really well suited for this song
If I had to highlight something, I would mention the guitar intro and Solo. Fantastic !
Very good collaboration
Many greetings
Andi ;-)
Dave,
Everything about this SOUNDS GOOD!
Your vocals are really well recorded and processed.
Beefy, yet clear. Sitting in the mix perfectly.
BGVs are nice, too.
Marty's Bass sounds Incredible.
BIG, PUNCHY. Without ANY Boom-i-ness.
Might be the Best Bass Sound ever (in the Showcase, at least).
Loved that opening. Had a CCR feel/sound.
(Just yesterday I was saying to my wife "Why didn't anyone ever carry on that Credence sound?")
LOVE that guitar tone (solos). Killer stuff.
Drums sound good.
Enjoyed several listens...

Hi Dave and Marty,
What a delicious Blues! Can't keep my feet still.
And the bass is very cool, but it's Marty, so no wonder...
But nothing wrong with your vocals. They sound as if you have a little cold, but that makes them really special.
And than the solo. Wow, what a swell sound.
I was brought in a very good mood and thought it would play again after the end, but then 'So many roads' with Chris started.
I think I haven't heard that one before. Oh, I liked that one too. They were close in my taste. But most of your songs are close.
That means close to the maximum of joy. I don't think I'm exaggerating with that. They come close to my songs... ;-)
Hans
Dave / Marty,
Lots of swagger in this one! Killer bass lines from Marty, great production and Dave's voice is just great - perfect for the song.
Much enjoyed!
Bob
Dave & Marty,
Amazing team work! Very unusual and cool funk and blues marriage intro. Excellent drive and ACE instrument playing. Vocals sit well and both of your voices work very well together. Mix is top notch. Listens very well. Enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.
Hi BlueAttitude,
catchy composition. The playing of the guitar, the bass and the hammond organ (which I particularly like) are well done.
Kindly regard

Hi Dave & Marty ...
Love Shuffle Blues and this one does everything it should do. Great lyric, musical arrangement is spot on, and the mix is stand out. No problems at all with the vocals. Loved how the organ came in, filling up a bit of that b/g space. Your guitasr tone is so dang good!
That was a real joy to listen to! Thanks!!!
Alan
Hi Dave,
This is a top track - great bass Marty, good singing and excellent Guitar work.
Really enjoyed this one.
Best Regards

"dangerously good duo", I like that!
Thanks for the listen and comments!
Sizzling opening. I dig that riff.
Good lyrics. I especially like the lines "That you know what you want and you know what to flaunt/you ain't no debutant."
Darn good song. Ain't no problem at all with your vocal.

That was my favorite line, too, Scott. Rhyming words like flaunt, want, debutant. Sheesh, and he said he couldn't write lyrics and he couldn't sing. Guess we now know that Dave doesn't know what "can't" means.
Wow, very fresh sounding intro. Really like those sharp sounds of the lead guitar, nicely reflecting those sexy steps of that mysterious lady. And vocals have that plea strongly present. Excellent rhyming with some less often heard words. The bass is enjoyable, and the drum programming works very well. I want more your minor key blues ballads, but I definitely want more like this heavy stuff
Janne
Dave
Loved the intro - superb.
Excellent rollicking (swaggering) song, Marty sounds great on bass and backing vocals and the guitars are excellent (as always).
The outro is great. You are getting very good at programming those drums!
Really liked it.

Man, what a great sound those bands had! Loved Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn especially. Thanks very much for the kind words!
No problem putting up with that vocal, Dave. It's just fine. Marty's base is rock solid and your guitar is smokin'. Excellent work.

Just not used to hearing myself sing yet I think, Leon, it's still pretty new for me. Thanks for the encouragement!
Great opening! Love the way the bass bounces along underneath the crunchy guitar solo.
Vocals work well, and the organ is a nice touch.
All them
big words in the lyrics, though: "nonchalant", "savoir-faire", "beguile", "debutant", ... Are you trying to make me break out my dictionary, or what?
I was going to make a joke about the song written half in French, but "beguile" comes from Middle English, ruining my punchline
For irony,
Chris37 did the next song I'm going to listen to. It's
all French!
Fun song - everything about it sounds awesome!
Smoking solo and walking bass...
The two male vocals work well together.
COOOOL.
Yeah, having Marty join in during the chorus certainly kicked things up a notch.
Thanks, Ray!

Dave and Marty,
Yes, really good rock song.
Nice to hear something different from you!
Your voice sounds really cool in this song.
Rob and Anne-Marie
Awesome tune Dave. Loved the tone of your guitar. Excellent vocal. Martys bass lines were perfect. I got a BTO vibe from the song. Randy B and Fred Turner a couple of my early guitar and bass idols rocking out. Loved this tune.

Man, you write the best reviews!
I was a big CCR fan back in the day, used to cover a few of their tunes at one point in a band I was in back in the 90's. Wasn't shooting for a CCR vibe with this one, but I'll take the comparison
Thanks very much, floyd, your support is always appreciated and never taken for granted.

Thanks for the encouragement on the vocal and the other kind words, Bob, I appreciate it
Dave and Marty,
Everything about this is so darn good!
You have to stop downgrading your vocals- they are just right here.
Walking bass and fantastic opening riff are also highlights.
Great work.

What a cool lyric and video! (Loved the Mona Lisa smile and those penguins strutting their stuff.)
Dave, your smoky and slinky vocal fits so well with the lyric and that sassy looking girl on the cover art
Marty’s bass is super and his bgv’s blend really well with you.
The organ and the poppin' great drums with you and Marty does bring to mind Muscle Shoals music.
Before we watched the video we could picture that girl sashaying along to your smoking hot guitar solo.
Awesome!

The dynamic duo hits another one out of the park!
Excellent blues rock
Great vocal, guitar, bass, backing tracks, and mix.
Nice video also!

The more uptempo rock stuff is fun to do, especially the guitar parts. And of course, Marty can handle this sort of groove in his sleep
Maybe next year I'll do more along these lines. Thanks, Janne!

Yes, really good rock song.

It's fun to rock out for a change
Thanks Rob and Anne-Marie!
Awesome tune Dave. Loved the tone of your guitar. Excellent vocal. Martys bass lines were perfect. I got a BTO vibe from the song. Randy B and Fred Turner a couple of my early guitar and bass idols rocking out. Loved this tune.
I listened to a lot of BTO back in the day, favorite song by them is Blue Collar. Thanks, Scott!

Excellent blues rock
Great vocal, guitar, bass, backing tracks, and mix.
Nice video also!
Appreciate that, thanks, Mario!
I thought I had listened to this and commented but apparently not.
Nice swing groove you got going there. I liked several things about the drums. What really threw me off was the intro is, or sounds to be an even beat.... then the singing starts and it switches to swing at the end of the single stick hits drum snare roll.....
Nice work.... I like it.
Yeah! This has got a groove that cannot be resisted! Loved it all!
