Uh Oh Oh No She’s Gone

Woke up at six AM

still dark outside

Make my way from our bed to the kitchen

while I rub my eyes

Turn to see if she’e still there

And then I see her empty chair

She said that she’d be leaving

one day I’d be on my own

Now every time I start to say us

I remember I’m alone

When I roll on down the road

It seems like she’s riding along

Then It hits me

Uh oh Oh no She’s gone

Looking down two cups in the sink

I may never be the same

I had my chances to make things right

But they slipped right down the drain

Turn to see if she’e still there

And then I see her empty chair

Super song

Great backing track and guitar chops

I think your vocal should be a little louder but again that is just my opinion.

Great guitars and vox, this sounds radio ready to me. Returning to the forum in a formidable fashion!

Tom,

Killer sound. Every instrument stands loud and proud.
I'm always blown away by the acoustic guitar sound you get.
Your electric sounds perfect.
Drums and Bass are superb.
I think the vocals are at just the right level.

A nice "she's gone" write. (the sink/drain thing is clever)

Gorgeous mix.

Great to have ya back!

Great melody, arrangement and mix!

Balance sounds good to me, Tom.
I like the guitar riff too.
My only sugg is that it's crying out for a short chorus after the second verse.
Just a simple repeat of "Uh Oh Oh No ..." would do it.

I like it: very good song with great vocals, a great arrangement and a really good mix.

2 thumbs up smile

Sounds good Tommy!

Nice, rich, punchy, radio-type sound.

Great work.

Hey Mario, Thanks for checking in. You are 100% spot on on the vocal volume. I kicked it up quite a bit. I got in a hurry and didn't give it time to settle in. Now I hear a few things I could have done better. Oh well, next time I will slow down. Thanks for your nice comments, Tom

Hi Tom,

Great to hear a new one from you, it's been way too long!

Totally pro sound from you as always.

Love the riff! And great sound from the guitars overall.

Superb song from start to finish, loved it.

Tom,

A very pleasant song to listen to, regardless of the subject of the lyrics.
Your vocals are very good here, like the band.
I liked how the bass cuts through the song. Did Marty helped you on this one?

I enjoyed it very much. I played it again 2 more times. Now it stays in my head for a long time!

Wow, very luscious sound, great arrangement and mix. Very pleasant vocals, I especially like the "Then it hits me..." part. Maybe bit too upbeat for a love lost song, but that is just my melancholy mood wanting to hear the song end with a minor chord smile

Tom,
Its no surprise this is a pro-level sounding production; excellent energy on your vocal and the band is fantastic... signatures of your many great songs posted here.
I hope there`s more coming; this is a very good!

I assume that's you on the guitar for the fills n trills. They really make the song complete,(though may be a little loud in the chorus).
The harmonies are ace.
There's a bit of a brittle build around 3.5kHz particularly when the sustained chords are behind the vocal.
Terrific song, terrific performances too.

Hi Tom ...

What a cool country sound!

Even though your voice is much different from Richie McDonald's, I get somewhat of a Lone Star vibe from this. David Lee Murphy also comes to mind. I love the full, robust bass line. For me, everything about this says 1995 country at its best. Some contemporary nasmes could also push thisd yup the charts. But, no matter the other namnes, I doubt it would sound as good this.

Good to hear from ya!

I’m sure I mentioned this before. Logic has a built in effect that spreads acoustic guitar really wide. I add a little eq and use it on every song. You know I love those signature licks. Copy and paste is your friend. You only got to get it right one time! Same goes with repeating choruses and harmonies. Thanks for all your words of support. They mean a lot, Tom

Yep, you were missed, Tom. Man, this software is gold in your hands. Your guitars really top the bill, and the story lyrics are just perfect. Harmonies are so good.

Vic, Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate the comments and suggestion. I have spent some time thinking about what you said, but for me it doesn't fit the structure of the song. But this is how to share ideas, so I'm glad you made the suggestion, Tom

That guitar lick let me know right away how awesome the song was going to be.

Catchy country pop - love it. Everything sounds great! laugh

And yes - with pop music, repetition of a good idea just makes it better!

Wonderful! We’ve missed you!

Your voice sounds so sincere that we easily picture the different scenarios in the song. And what a storyteller you are!
"Looking down two cups in the sink" is a great example of how much one little line can say. We are happy to see that your amazing ability to say more in a few words than many can say in volumes is still striking.

Excellent guitars and pro production, as always.
A short description but suffice it to say that from your first production through this we've always felt that you've set and maintain a very high bar. And, as Bud still says, "I want to be able to produce like that when I grow up." smile

Loved it!

Hans, Thanks for the nice words. I have been paying a lot more attention to the bass lately. It's a very fine line to get it loud without being overwhelming. After being away for a while I found that a lot of my recent work was lacking in a good solid bass sound. Hopefully I've learned my lesson, Tom

Thanks for stopping by. It may be counter intuitive but as I have said before here, I have found that sometimes a depressing song can become more listenable when the bpm is upped a bit. I appreciate the kind words,Tom

Al, you’ve always said such nice things about my songs. Thanks! I used to live 20 miles from where Murphy grew up in Southern Illinois but never met him. I had a conversation with McDonald once when we opened for Lonestar. Nice guy.

Man Tom, this is great! I'd been gone for a while and it's been taking me a while to catch up with the music I've missed. I continued listening to all the others until I got here, and man it was worth the wait! Now, this is country! Really loved your guitar work in this one, but the entire production is built and mixed so well. I finally took a quick look at your website for the first time while listening, and am glad I did. I see you play a Zum steel. They sponsor Doug Jernigan and I really like his pickin! - so quick and clean. Thanks for posting this, it's a goodun'!
