Treat Her Right Hi Folks,
Here's a rockin' blues I wrote recently featuring the great guitar work of Brent Mason.
Music & Lyrics - Nigel Spiers
Vocals and BV's - Nigel Spiers
Real Tracks from PGMusic:
Lead Guitar - Brent Mason (2636)
Rhythm Guitar - Brent Mason (1718)
Drums - Shannon Forrest (BluesRockEV^1)
Bass - Dow Tomlin (579)
Piano - John Jarvis (2367)
This is a blues tour de force. Kicked it on all levels. Brent was great but Jarvis was right there with him. Vocals and mix are super. Great work!
Wonderful blues. More than just a few shades of Sir Tom Jones in your vocal! Bravo!
Great blues, and I echo musician17, there's a lot of Tom Jones in your voice.
Very good mix and a good selection of instruments, I especially love that Dow Tomlin bass.
Oh, yeah, you have such a good voice for these songs, Nigel. Excellent choice of bandmates. Yeah, maybe Tom Jones --but better. I also like your Treat Her Right better than the one he sang. Terrific Blues sound. Much enjoyed.
Nigel,
A good ROckin' Blues.
Well sung. Good mix.

Hi Nigel
Great blues song
Cool intro
Excellent vocal work
I would say a reference song that shows what is possible with BiaB
Very fun to listen to
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Many greetings
Andi ;-)
Nigel...you are the master of the blues and have such a great voice for the genre...there's some great playing and pickin' going on here...well crafted and arranged...everything is in the right place...very cool!
Nigel,
Killer opening to this song—totally engages the listener and gets the foot tapping and head rockin’. Like those back up vocal call backs. Smokin’ blues number right hear. Great mix and stellar vocals. Very well done, sir!
All my best to you,
Deej
Hi Tunemonger,
Thanks for your generous comments.
Merry Xmas
Nigel
As Deej says, killer intro that grabs you by the balls.
Smoking song!!! Vocal performance is spot on.
I bet this was a bunch of fun to produce, great job !
You gotta treat her right, you gotta hold her tight !
Very good vocals on this one.
I love rocking blues songs, and this one certainly fits the bill. The mix is superb, and love the guitar!!
Rocking with a nice raw instrumentation and mix. Brent fits excellently with your rough lead vocal style. I enjoyed also those nice backing vocals.
Janne
Good rockin blues. The mix is exceptional. Super vocals and Brent kills it, Tom
Hi James,
Thanks for the Tom Jones compliment - one of my musical heroes.
Best Regards
& Merry Xmas

Hi Marty,
Thanks for the kind comments.
I had completely forgotten about the original "Treat Her Right" when I wrote my song. I just had a look at the amazing performance of Roy Head:

Rockin' blues indeed.
That is one fine display of an all BiaB ensemble ... along with an excellent vocal and mix.
Hard to go wrong with Brent and John -- excellent musicians in all the contexts we've heard them.
A little Tom vibe? ... yep. Lotta folks don't know what a heckuva blues singer he is.
Reckon you've seen the special that featured him and Lulu on some killer blues tunes.
Enjoyed it!
J&B
Man, Nigel, you did a great job with this one. That intro grabs right away and then keeps you glued in for the rest of the song. A lot of fun and great mix, fantastic vocals.
Brad
Hi J&B,
Thanks for your comments - I've just looked on Youtube and can't find Tom and Lulu singing the blues - do you have a link?

Nigel it was around 20 years ago and was titled Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues: Red, White & Blues. There were a lot of folks on it other than Tom and Lulu but they were fabulous. We watched it on PBS and tried to find it later but never could. Like you we could not locate it when we checked around the video streaming platforms a few years ago. Please let us know if you come across it. BTW I think it’s also around on CD. Streaming audio wise the last time I checked on Apple Music I got a msg that it was not available in the US.
Bud
Fun song - I always look forward to a new song from you, and this didn't disappoint.
Nigel
A good rollicking song. Excellent vocal and mix.
Great stuff.
Peter
Hi Bud,
Thanks - I think I just found part of that series on Youtube.
Lulu was Singing "Drown In My Own Tears" and doing a wonderful job.
I think it's called "Red, White and Blues - Abbey Road Sessions" and features many English blues musicians including my personal favorite - Jon Cleary (he has been based in New Orleans for most/all of his career).

A solid session of Country Blues.
I'm always pleased to see people able to get good results with Brent mason's tracks - I've been unsuccessful thus fay but then I don't really write anything that he's likely to fit.
I particularly enjoyed your Ahhs...they were The Jordanaires cool.
Hi Ray,
Thanks for your generous comments. The Jordaniares - I had to look them up. They were great singing with Elvis - I particularly liked the guy on the end with the very deep voice - they don't make em like that anymore.
