Time for some self pity.
Another cry in your beer song or should I say whisky?
All comments welcome. Rob4580

Nursing My Whisky

Nursing my whisky

Verse 1:
With lights dimmed down, I'm nursing my whisky
Been trying to hide away from the bustling din
I've been trying to stop my tears From flooding down.

Verse 2:
I been playing guessing games memory
It would seem all those heartaches remain the same
(G) Oh! Why can't I stop these tears from flooding down

Chorus:
My feet are such a long way off the ground
With the beating of my heart, can't hear a sound

Bridge

Chorus:
My feet are such a long way off the ground
With the beating of my heart, can't hear a sound

Verse 3:

So I'll have one last drink before the bar closes
I'll drink a toast to all those things I've lost
Wipe away those tears that are flooding down
Wipe away those tears that are flooding down

Oh, I really love this, Rob. What a cool feel. The bass reminds me of Right Hand Man by Nick Cave, but the vocal is so much better --so are the lyrics, and the other musicians. A terrific, catchy, write. So well done!!
It's a good, good thing Rob.
Marty meant, I think, Red Right Hand but I knew the sound he was referring to and he's 100% on the bass tone & place in the mix.
I was an huge fan of Cave until the Israel thing.
I wanted more - I wanted to hear more of the story.
You've left me wanting more so you win.
Really cool sound!!

Excellent groove!!

But you stole my idea writing a song about whiskey!!!

How could you do that?

You're a, you're a..Whiskey Stealer!!!!

smile
I didn't know you could 'nurse' a whiskey.
You can drink it if it's a single malt, or if it's blended, you can clean the bathtub with it.... But nursing?
You never stop learning.

That being said, I like your song. The opening bass grabbed me and didn't let go.
Very well done!
Thank you Babu

It's an odd idiom & I'm uncertain if it's Australian or universal but - "nursing" a drink means to drink quite slowly, usually while pondering one's circumstances.
Hi Rob,

I liked this very much - good lyrics, vocals and a catchy beat.

I would like to hear your vocals a touch louder.

Best Regards
Nigel
Great singing, good lyrics, and the BIAB musicians are sounding mighty good here. I agree with Nigel that the vocs could be louder.
Hello Rob,

How can you feel sorry with yourself while making this lovely song?
Or its better to put it this way. You create great things when pouring tears in your whiskey.
I didn't know the expression 'Another cry in your beer', but immedialtly you get the picture. That makes it a nice expression, albeit a bad feeling.
In some way this song made me think of the famous tune of Peaky Blinders (without the bell). Same rhythm.

So, go ahead with feeling sorry and deliver us the good stuff!

Hans
Hi Ray. As usual thanks for your thought provoking comments.
Always appreciated. Rob4580

Nice sound and groove. Dark and moody.

Vocal matches the mood well.
really like the feel you did for this.

nice lead break mate.
i like your organ choice.

oooh BRILLIANT FINAL CHORD AT END OF SONG..kudos.

have a great 2023.

om
You’re really showing your versatility, Rob. We love this!

It has a great vibe and your vocal is nice and smoky to fit the atmosphere.
Your use of RT's is always impressive and this one is stellar especially with the great guitar solo and bass.

We tend to nurse our whiskeys whenever we have one, so as to get the most enjoyment of the flavor. wink

Cool!

Hi David.

Excellent song, as usual a great vocal and a nice choice of band.

Top stuff.

Peter
Rob, this is a great sound. I love the groove and your exceptional vocal. Your choice of real tracks is perfect. Even the often times overlooked rhythm guitar is spot on. Excellent mix. I loved it, Tom
Hi, Rob !

I also loved the tune and the sound
and your vocal was performed in
accordance with your self pitying
mood as displayed in the lyrics !

PS: I prefer Brandy myself ...

One of your absolute best !

Cheers
Dani

Excellent mix.

One of your best.

Rob,

Another terrific tune from you—really cool groove with this one. Would love the vocals to come up just a touch. Really like the instrumental break after that first chorus. The electric solo works really well—I wouldn’t have even thought to try that real track—it works great here. Well done!

All my best,

Deej
Blues & funk with a melancholy lyric is close to my heart. Great groove with very enjoyable chord progression. The bass, the organ, the guitarists, very well chosen instrumentation. And your sad voice is the tasty foam on this mug of loneliness. This is probably the brightest star in your musical galaxy.
