Ok, we finally got a good set of latin real drums and percussion (IMHO); what I would like to see now is a good set of "salsa" and or "bolero" style or an style that actually capture better the nuances of the latin music. I have twiked before some of the jazz styles to create a latin feel song, but still it sounds "too jazzy" at times, which is fine if your trying to emulate something a la Mongo Santamaria or Poncho Sanchez (which I love) but not like maybe Tito Puente or any other caribean salsa bands which abounds.
Thank you

agree with cuban pete.
I love the older stuff

Son
danzon
tumbao

calypso before reggae (its not all steel drum)

early dom rep bachata (puerto plata for example)

early salsa
the stuff long before the blaring horns

Buenavista social club had it going on
Manuel Galban
Ibrahim Ferrer
Cachao

more folky style carribean
primarily comping real tracks
