Hi,

On a staff, I create a simple melody
Can Band-in-a-Box then generate on another staff bass and chords in the rules of harmony accompanying this melody?
If yes, how?

thanks

Hi Balstimo,

Because this thread is better placed in the BIAB forum, it's likely that moderators will move it there. The "Styles and Realtracks Wishlist" forum is for those who have suggestions on what types of styles or Realtracks PG Music might like to create.

So to answer your question...

BIAB can do it's best to interpret chords. It probably won't be 100% perfect because a single-note melody often has many different possibilities. BIAB will certainly give a great head start, though, by adding a workable chord progression.

The option for adding chords is found under the "Edit" menu.... select "Edit >> Chords >> Auto-generate Chord Reharmonization". Instructions on this can also be found in the PDF manual -- a link for the manual is found under the "Help" menu in more recent versions of BIAB. Once the manual is loaded, search the pdf for "reharmonization".

Regards,
Noel
