Hello,

I was wondering if any users would be interested in PG Music creating 70's prog styles for RealBand.

For example styles like GENESIS, Yes, Rush, King Crimson, Jethro Tull........

Drum beats with off meters like Bill Bruford plays.

Just a thought. Maybe PG might consider this in the very near future.

What do you all think?

Cheers,

VoxBox

RealBand? I think, you mean BIAB.

Regardless: +1

A big plus 1 for this.

I'm all for this but I can see a problem with BiaB limited to 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 when exported to a DAW.

However it is still a good idea.

Thanks for the request! Can you post in some specific song examples of a few styles that you might like to see?

Don't want to hijack the thread but these would maybe be in keeping with the OP's intentions?
They could certainly be done as a second "Odd Time Signature" package

King Crimson - Larks Tongues In Aspic part 2 (10/8 divided 3,3,4)

Genesis - Watcher Of The Skies

Jethro Tull - A New Day Yesterday

King Crimson - Easy Money (this is 4/4 but accented unusually)

Hi Alan,

Those are all excellent suggestions, thanks! It does bring up a point of discussion though, regarding odd time signatures. You mentioned some very old odd-time-signature styles that we did in Band-in-a-Box, but the problem with those kinds of RealDrums and RealTracks is that they then are really only useful for a single song, can't be mixed-and-matched with other RealTracks, etc. etc. As such, though it might not be exactly what you want, a guitar part like that in the first King Crimson example above would be much more versatile in Band-in-a-Box if it were shoe-horned into a 4:4 style. But then of course in Band-in-a-Box you can THEN change it to an odd time signature. For example, you can select 7:4, which Band-in-a-Box interprets as alternating between bars of 4:4 and 3:4. Or you could do 5:4 by alternating between bars of 3:4 and bars of 2:4.

Then of course in addition to that, if you have suggestions for ideas that might make the current method of doing odd time signatures better, those kinds of suggestions could go in the main program feature wishlist. For example, right now, when it takes a 4:4 style and turns it into 7:4 by turning every other bar into 3:4, it does so by simply chopping off the last beat of those 3:4 bars. Users might want to experiment with it instead cutting of the FIRST beat of that second bar. Or maybe it sounds better with some instruments cutting off some beats, and others cutting off other beats. Etc. etc.

Anyway, again, thank you for those suggestions, and some of those certainly could provide inspiration for new RealTracks, in some way or other.
