Hello all!
Help! Wanting to improve my Vocals I have installed Izotope Element and Nectar applications. Now I cannot figure out how to make them avail within Real Band as a plugin. In other words - how does RB recognise this plugin? It seems to ask for .dll or .ax files when both Nectar and Elements are .exe applications.
Tutorial videos don't give info either...
Thanks for your guidance...
Tina
It is looking for the VST plugin, which is a .dll file, not the standalone app which is the .exe file.
The one for Nectar is called iZNectar3.dll.
In my computer it is found in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins
I don't use Real Band here, but I assume it must have a function where you can scan for new plugins, maybe someone else can help you with that aspect.
you run the exe files and the vsts are installed - the dll files are installed and accesss all the program files. you'll need to authorise them - the izotope product portal does that - you should have it installed and once you've installed the plugins the portal will find them and you can authorize them to your pc. ignire ilok option - i think that's so you can put them on a memory stick and use them on anpther pc but i'm not sure.
once installed and authorised you'll find the dll files you want in c/program files/steinberg/vst plugins
IGNORE! the folders for izotope - they contain the gubbins that make the plugins work. you want the dlls that call them up and they are where i said in the steinberg vst folder.
careful! when you come to add them to RB navigate to the right folder but do NOT click the dlls beginning with IZXXXXXXXX scroll down and choose the simple names of the plugins. it took me ages to find out that the IZXXXXXX dlll files are what the plugins use to work not the plugin files themselves.
Thanks to Blue Attitude and Bob Calver! Your guidance was super-useful and made the process easy for me in the end.
iLok is a USB device that is used to hold software authorizations. Many companies use this device. iZotope allows both software and iLok authorization as far as I know as noted above.
Please mark your issue as resolved. this is done by going to your initial post I believe.
Hi!
Unfortunately the issue is not resolved. When downloading Nectar my presets were missing and I got directed to this website:
https://support.izotope.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033775754-iZotope-products-missing-presetsFollowed the instructions and cleared all permissions - but these are .xml files and the .dll files in Steinberg only give me the Audio Assistant - nothing else.
No solution from Izotope so far....have tried uninstalling and re-installing but no joy.
So - if anyone else has had this issue and can advise I would be grateful.
what presets were you expecting? this is what i get with nectar
but i do get presets with neutron
This looks like Nectar Element. So minimal I have deemed it useless. It is often given away free which is the right price for it. I got a great deal on an upgrade with all the presets.
yes its the elements but it gives a great start for tweaking the vocal
Well this is interesting.
I purchased Nectar 3 Elements and I see exactly what you show on your first screen shot: "What are you going for?" However the guy from support said I should get the presets ranging from Alternative & Indie to Voice & Dialogue. (Don't know how to do attachments otherwise I would show what I downloaded but cannot use...)
Seems I have bought / been sold the wrong product. I since downloaded a Nectar 3 Plus Trial package and it gives me what I want.
Nectar 3 Elements seemed very cheap and isn't that useful...
So in summary I should have bought Nectar 3 or Nectar 3 Plus. Would everyone agree?
I have avoided the Elements versions of these and most other products because they are mainly a tease to get you into the full version. In the case of Nectar I bought the top version and I have upgraded it pretty much every time it comes out because it makes my vocal recordings sound great without any effort on my part. I also highly recommend Ozone for mastering. Basically I recommend Izotope suite with Nectar, Neutron and Ozone over pretty much anything else on the market. These products have ensured I will never truly learn to mix and master because their presets are that good!
nectar elements is a useful tool, but the most useful i find is neutron elements with its eq learn facility.
in an ideal world i'd buy the whole suite of full plugins but the cost is enormous.
it would be good to know if nectar elements should come with presets - maybe Tina Jay can post details?
Hello all!
So - finally I got clarification from Izotope. The whole confusion was a mix of my misunderstanding and Izotope not being very clear about what their products contain in terms of presets. Only reachable by email (the have deactivated live chat) which is not ideal.
Anyway, Nectar 3 Elements does NOT contain any presets. In order to benefit from all the presets I need to upgrade to Nectar 3 Plus and - in my case - upgrade from Ozone 9 Elements to Ozone 9 Standard.
Finally I may look into Neutron as recommended - once I have the brain space again! :-)
Hope this now makes sense and thank you for helping me out in this.
Depends on what tools you need.
Ozone is a great tool for mastering, I use it here. The presets are not necessary IMHO, I have Ozone 9 Advanced and have never once used any of the presets.
Their mastering assistant tool, which I believe is also in elements, is great for getting you in the ballpark. It has the advantage of actually analyzing your track and making decisions based on that, whereas a preset has no idea of the state of the mix it is working with.
agreed about the mastering in ozone elements. there are presets but mastering assistant seems to do a good job.
