i got a cheap upgrade from nectar elements to nectar 3 plus so now my voice sounds crap but perfectly eq'd and compressed.

i got melodyne 5 bundled as a freebie but although i can load the standalone program the vst i've found won't load into RB as i get the dreaded message 'not a valid plugin'.
that usually happens with vst3 dlls.

is there a vst2 dll lurking anywhere on my system? or is it just vst3?

if so is the standalone program any use to me outside RB?

i was hoping to edit a vocal take with one bum note............. it was recorded a long time ago when i was less fussy and duplicating the mic and recording settings mean punch in is not an option.

Hi Bob, it comes as VST3 only. Here are the tech data from their web site:

The standalone Melodyne should help with this. You just have to move the .wav or .mp3 audio files in and out. The real problem will likely be what version of Melodyne do you have. Any free version will be very limited.

thanks pipeline - i think i'll stick to export/import wav file and the standalone version but maybe have a playaround with elements

i did try it with a waves plugin but couldn't seem to make the right connections but time to try again as a lockdown project!

I *think* Pipeline is trying to show you how to sync Melodyne standalone with RB .. might be worth trying

Izotope has videos on how to use Melodyne with Elements. Having Melodyne Studio which does load as an AU, I’m not familiar with the version included with Nectar.

This was released in 2018 back when the included version was 4; it’s been upgraded to 5.

Melodyne Essential

Hi!

I don't now if this helps any further now - but I recently bought Melodyne Essential (Version 5.1.1.) from Celemony. I saw the bundle with Nectar 3 but purchased it as a stand-alone. As Joanne Cooper's video warned me that it doesn't work very well a a plug in I used it once so far having exported the wav file from RB. Then imported as wav file back into RB after the tuning. Worked fine.

I am pretty sure this one and your "freebie" version are the same.

I think you meant that it doesn't work well as a plug-in in BiaB and/or RB. The plug-in works very well in in Studio One Pro 5 and it also worked in Sonar. It will work with any DAW that has ARA.

Oh yes, absolutely. I am only commenting with regards to BIAB/RB.

That's how Melodyne works, more or less. It substitutes the processed audio for your unprocessed audio. Doesn't matter if used as a plugin or stand-alone, your audio must be imported into Melodyne before it can be processed.
