Last week I decided to buy Amplitube 5 and it cost me $199 (euro actually) I looked up some other stuff yesterday and here it is at $99 (euro) half the price.

I put this here because I know some folk like Amplitube. The Amplitube 5 version is very powerful and very flexible. It does offer much more than the free version. More than I’d ever use.

I’m thinking the will replace the current sim I use for live performances.

+1 for AmpliTube 5. I bought AT4 Max and have added the few new collections that weren't part of it. So now, I have the equivalent of AT5 Max. I own a number of amp sims, but AT5 gets most to all of the work. One of the nice things about the AT sims is that they model specific hardware. If you know of a specific way to configure an Ampeg SVT, for example, to get a specific tone, you can do that with AmpliTube. You know Fender? Get the Fender collections. You know Mesa Boogie? Get the Mesa Boogie collections. You know Ampeg SVT? Get the SVT collections. They also model a lot of different speaker cabs and pedals. You can use AT5 just as a pedal board, if you want. They also have artist-specific collections. Brian May. Dimebag Darrell. Joe Satriani. Jimi Hendrix. And others. Great product.

AT5 is currently on sale for $/€ 99. AT5 Max (my recommendation) is on sale for $/€ 199. Even with the strong US$ right now, having the same prices in euros is a bargain.

I got the Fender 1 Collection which had what I wanted along with the Amplitube 5. Had the Amplitube 5 been the price it is this week I’d have got both Fender collections. I’m really only looking for something to use live. I’ve been happy with TH-U until I played about and heard Amplitube. I had the free Amplitube 4 but this blows that away.

I just wanted to say I explained my position to IKMultimedia re the prices. They refunded the original which allowed me to purchase Amplitube 5 Max at the discounted rate.

There was no obligation on the part of IKMultimedia but they were brilliant. I just wanted to clear up my first post on this topic.

Well done Tony for raising the issue and well done IKM for "coming to the party".
The IK players are free. The version of Amplitube found in CS is identical to that found in all packages. The price differences are the amp sims and plugins included in the various packages.

I found this out by spending a bunch on a version of TotalStudio Max that included SampleTank 3 — right before ST 4 was released. Then MacOS Mojave came out and nothing was working right. WTF?!?! I had just spent a lot of money! Ok… So, before I wrote to IK giving them a piece of my mind, I downloaded the free SampleTank 4 CS to check compatibility.

Oh. Everything now worked and opened fine in ST4. Instant, no charge upgrade to everything.

The Amplitube 5 sale has some really nice bundles available so it's great that IK took care of you. I have nearly everything already so it's somewhat academic to me.

It's great that the IK, ARIA and UVI players are free. Wouldn't it be nice of Kontakt adopted that same business model instead of making Kontakt Player that will not play a lot of Kontakt instruments?
