Are you using a sync stripe to keep it in time?
How is the sync set up?

If not using sync stripe, tape stretch and wear will cause it to go out of time over the length of a song

I can hear ya fine ..

Have you tried running it the other way, with PT being master and the multitrack as the slave?

There are a few options in MIDI OUT dialogue that may help with the syncing that way, such as SPP
Make sure to enable 'send mtc' there if that is what you are using.

PowerTracks will sync with MTC or MIDI clocks, but any audio tracks in PT are unlikely to stay in sync with an analog tape recorder. Once the sync is achieved, audio in PT plays at its own speed rather than being adjusted. To do that would require stretching or expanding the audio in realtime repeatedly to keep in sync with the analog deck and there are no plans to support that type of sync.

The best thing would be to transfer all the analog tracks over to PT. After all the tracks are in PT, you could always manually move events around to get them in sync with MIDI, or maybe use ACW to create a tempo map in PT.

Jeff
I hear his fostex is digital. (up a couple posts)

teapot
The part Jeff mentioned about getting all the tracks into PT is a good suggestion.
Wonder if they were done with two different clicks (one from each system)?
Maybe the metronomes did't match between the two and now the audio is wandering.

Getting the audio tracks from Fostex into PT: Can the Fostex export?
Did you ever try running with PT as master and Fostex as slave?

Lastly, what version of PT?
