Don’t Pass Me By (Ringo Starr)

I originally covered this Beatles song a sea turtle’s age ago, back in the 1980's, transposing from major to minor key to have the mood more realistically fit the grim lyric. I mean, he couldn’t have been happy about her losing her hair.

That’s a youthful moi on vox, playing acoustic lead and rhythm against an electronic guitar (all now irrevocably married on an ancient stereo cassette.) In the 21st century, I added Logic’s Drummer and some BIAB magic, and here I am again.

I hope you might enjoy.

** BIAB Song Summary **
RealTrack: ~~518:Bass, Electric, Pop HalfNotes Ev 085
RealTrack: ~~409:Fiddle, Background George Ev 085
RealDrums: NashvilleEven8^1-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride

Mark, I enjoyed listening to this. I love the original and you've created a really interesting cover. Guitar and violin tracks are different. Really like the lead and bass background vocals.

I'm so glad to hear that, Jim. This old thing is a part of me. Thanks.

I HEAR Mark...revelation & relevation.
Nice one, almost reggae pop or a Zorba Dance song.
EVEN some Leonard Cohen style.
The vocal is perfect for the song & arrangement.
Great to hear you & it.

I've wanted to update that old recording for a long time, but was ducking the challenge of dealing with tempo and pitch irregularity (Logic's "groove track" was finally the ticket.) Probably 75% of the work was just getting the parts in sync and in tune! Thanks for listening.
