Does anyone know if the Get Back documentary is still scheduled for release on DVD next month?
I'm not interested in signing up at Disney.

I'm not sure but the documentary was very enjoyable to watch. For any of those services like Disney, Hulu, Paramount+, Netflix, etc., you usually get a free trial before you sign up or you can just sign up for the first month. I've had NO issues with subscribing to any of these for just a month to watch what I want and then cancel service. It happens so much today that it's very easy to do. I don't want to pay for a large number of these at the same time. I just pick and choose based on what I want to see. Good Luck!

Thanks guys,
I do hope they are thinking of productions runs numbering in the millions; I'm expecting the worldwide demand to be thru the roof.

Steve, did any particular scene jump out for you? I haven't viewed it yet.

I was amazed at Paul's talents in the first couple of episodes. He would just jump on the piano or the drums and just start playing away. Some stuff would later be released by him when he went solo and they were just scratch ideas during this documentary. The documentary does a good job of subtitling what song they riff when they are messing about.

That's interesting. Sounds like he had all these musical ideas bouncing around in his head and had the technical ability to communicate them to his bandmates on various instruments.

Thanks for sharing that . . . so much content, so little time. frown

It was well worth the wait. The 3-disk DVD set arrived and we've watched Part 1.

Watching these four lads working out songs is quite inspiring and the video quality is superb for being filmed in 1969.
Among other things, it's a lesson in the art of how to communicate when collaborating with your bandmates.

Even if Part 1 was the complete DVD it would be worth having this in your library if you like the Beatles.

Like you I watched part 1 today. Wonderful production values and good story telling. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the story.

I REALLY lucked out. I suggested the DVD set to my local library. They accepted the suggestion and I placed a hold request. The DVD set arrived at the library Thursday and Friday I checked it out for a week.

Asking your local library to purchase it was a smart idea and I too am looking forward to parts 2 and 3.

Whoever came up with the idea to film the creative sessions at Twickenham Studios was forward-looking and brilliant. There is so much candid and unscripted content that was captured that music historians will study. I always knew that Paul and John were co-leaders but didn't know how much George felt isolated despite introducing to the band songs he'd written the night before. IMHO, George is/was under rated.

I've had a library card just about all my life. I visit my local library about once a week.

My library has a pretty extensive multi-media collection including over 5,000 DVDs, 2,500 audio books, a couple of hundred music CDs, e-readers and so on. It even has a small cassette and vinyl collection.

This library subscribes to an online music service that features the Sony music catalog. One benefit from this is I can download 5 DRM free, commercial quality MP3 audio files every week. How neat is that?

5,000 DVDs? . . . That's enormous!

Btw, out of curiosity I clicked on your link https://fogle622.wix.com/fogle622-audio-home and my anti-virus software blocked it as "risky".
Any idea why?

I suspect a false positive. The linked worked for me without issue. Which A/V are you using?

It is a false positive. I don't have any idea how the different anti-virus outfits decide what website likely could have a virus but I'm guessing the age the site went active, web traffic and reputation are some of the criteria. My site has been active for a number of years but receives very little traffic. Even I don't visit it that much.

Finally got around to viewing Part 2. An entire book could be written on just this one disk.

Spoiler Alert:
They move into Apple Studios, George is convinced to return to the band, there is a lot of horseplay and Billy Preston shows up to record with them.

Entertaining, historical and inspiring . . .

Wait until you watch part 3. It is mostly about preparing for the rooftop performance and the actual performance. Part 3 is when the four Beatles become one band.

Arif, welcome to the forum where we talk all things music but mainly Band in a Box. Thanks for the kind words. Have you watched the documentary?

We finally, got around to watching Disk 3 of 3 and it is awesome.
Some high points and a spoiler alert for those that care about such things.

Ringo on the piano and George on his acoustic working out the chords for Octopus's Garden.

George and Billy working out the chords for Old Brown Shoe.

Paul had an extraordinary wide vocal range; both octave-wise and genre-wise.

Paul's brother made a few brief appearances.

A fresh-faced Alan Parsons was noted as being a tape operator.

They were fascinated with a handheld music instrument that required a pencil-like object to play. I've never seen this object before, maybe someone here knows what the thing is. It looked battery powered.

Lots of improvisational jams.

Somebody called the cops because of too much of a "racket" on the roof top. When they arrived, they didn't know what to do about the situation.

Anyone doing serious collaboration would do well to watch how these guys worked together. Lot's of horseplay, everyone was eager to help each other in the song writing process and perhaps most importantly, these guys had phenomenal communication skills verbally, musically and via body language.

We will continue enjoying this documentary for years to come. And I now have a new item on my bucket list once I can adequately read sheet music or tab, . . . to cover as many Beatles songs on my bass as possible.
