PG Music Home
Hi everyone!

I've just made a video on how to make a UserTrack in less than 10 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RSYeaT3H6A&feature=youtu.be

I've noticed that for many people posting in this forum, making UserTracks seems like a fairly daunting task, but if you check out this video, you can see that it's actually quite easy to get a working UserTrack.

One thing you should note is that the video refers to zip files in <C:\bb\RealTracks\UserTracks\UserTracks Templates>. Those are not there yet, but will be put there in an upcoming patch update. For now, this zip file is located at http://www.pgmusic.com/usertracks1.htm

I'm looking forward to hearing some cool 10-minute UserTracks from all of you!
This is really a great idea to get us off the donkey and delve
into this arena.

Thanks for the Video and edging us in this direction.

Belong to another forum where so many folks have created new styles.
This changes whole ballgame.
How do I get the Shots n Holds to work ?

"Pop UserTracks Template 9 - Shots and Holds

If you've already recorded 'Pop UserTracks Template 1 - First Song' for your UserTracks style, recording this file will add additional material to your UserTracks style. This will add the ability for your UserTracks style to play shots (short staccatto chords that are entered by typing 2 dots after a chord, ex. C..) and holds (held chords that are entered by typing 3 dots after a chord, ex. C...).

To record this file, you should play a C major chord at bar 1, and let it sustain naturally through to the end of bar 4. Then play the same chord, but in a short, staccatto manner on the downbeat of bars 5, 6, 7 & 8. Starting at bar 9, you do the same thing, but with a C minor chord. This repeats through a variety of different chords, with roots of C (bars 1-80), E (bars 81-160), and G (bars 161-240).

Remember, you can also create your OWN chord progressions to add to your UserTracks style!

Shots and Holds are not supported yet for UserTracks, so you shouldn't record any. That was a mistake in that template to include them.
Hi all,

I've made a companion video to that one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVHIpdxhVTU&feature=youtu.be

The first one is a pop style, recorded in Band-in-a-Box, and this new one is a jazz style, recorded in RealBand.

I hope you enjoy it!
The next video in this series is now ready, showing you how to make UserTracks without using Band-in-a-Box at all in the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5acNhCOZt4k&feature=youtu.be

I hope you enjoy!
Why is PT drawing the wav as it is recording ? this means you can SEE if there is or has been any clipping (hot audio) while recording and not have to wait till the recording is done, like in RB, especially if you are reading from a chord chart at the same time, you can't have your eyes fixed on the VU meter.

I watched the very well done video on making user tracks and have one question. When recording a user track with a melody instrument over one of the PG Music supplied chord progressions, will the software change the rhythm to suit the style. Example: If I record the notes that make up each chord as 1/4 notes on the down beat, would the software create a more appropriate rhythm for the chosen style or, does the playback play the chords just like I play them?
I think this are a very bad video, Im e new guy, who try to use Band In A Box.Pro 2016. Mac 10.10.5

Where do I find This Track Recording ????

UserTracks are an advanced feature of Band-in-a-Box, and assumes you already know the basics of how to connect your instrument and make recordings. It takes more than a cursory reading to understand how it works and what is required to create your own UserTracks.

The first thing I would do is read the UserTracks section in the user manual (see page 167) that comes with BIAB.

Second, very carefully read what PGMusic has published on their UserTracks Page. There you will find links to templates, videos, and step by step instructions.

Next, I would check out Solidrock's RealBand Site for more information on creating UserTracks.

Be aware, there are some issues and shortcomings with UserTracks, which will hopefully be fixed in the future.

But again, this is an advanced feature, to be approached after a full understanding of how BIAB works (chord changes, styles, RealTracks, RealDrums, audio, MIDI, etc). This is not something you start off with (not saying that's what you did, but the comment was made as to how to connect your guitar to record).

I also believe that the videos are oriented to the Windows version of BIAB, so that may be part of the problem. If you are having specific issues, then ask how to do something on the BIAB for Mac forum. Lots of good help from other users such as Icelander, Islansoul, and others (who are all BIAB for Mac users).

Good luck!
"I try to find a way to work with Pro Tools, but I cannot find it.????"

1.You can save a user track template SGU to a video with BIAB MAC (include 2 bar count-in)

2.Save user track Song.SGU

3.Open the video with pro tools and record your guitar track.

4.Copy your pro tools guitar.AIFF/WAV + Song.SGU

to Applications/Band-in-a-Box/RealTracks/UserTracks/my guitar EV120
my guitar Ev120.AIFF/WAV
my guitar Ev120.SGU

A common complaint at your posted video at tube about your video is the volume of your voice. I have my volume set to max and can barely hear what it is you are saying.

Also the video and instructions are made for PC users of Band in a Box.

Why not have a video/instructions for Mac users because it is somewhat confusing trying to find what you show in the video in my Mac setup.

Here is an mp3 of the EQ clear vocal Band-in-a-Box-Make-a-Pop-UserTrack-in-less-than-10-minutes.mp3

You can also download the youtube video if you like and put it in iMovie then put the new audio in and mute the old track.
Here is the original video Band-in-a-Box Make a Pop UserTrack in less than 10 minutes!.mp4

You can play it in iTunes and use the equalizer or you can EQ your Mac audio

The usertrack creation is the same for Mac or Win.

Somewhat true however as a newbie/rookie to learning user tracks when i watch that video PG Published on Mar 11, 2014 shows/talks about what to click in the Window version and i don't see those in my 2016 Mac version.

I'm sure PG can afford to produce a video demonstrating the Mac Band in a Box.

It would be good to have a Mac video, but I'm just trying to help you out now so you can get it working.
Basically you are just recording yourself playing an instrument to a usertrack template or your own chord progression, you then save the recorded audio and the SGU to RealTracks/UseraTracks/My UserTrack/
My UserTrack.WAV/AIFF/M4A (any of those formats)
My UserTrack.SGU
As show above you can save the UserTrack template to a video,
just choose any tempo,
any style,
generate,
save as video,
import it to your DAW,
record
and save the recorded instrument wav file along with the saved SGU of the same tempo.

I apologize to you Pipeline if my response appeared as ungrateful.

Thanks very much for your additional help in step form. Huge help. Especially that url to pg's website help.
