Sorry if this has already been discussed but I DID SEARCH for it and nothing came up. Is there a worth while package of the real book charts for BIAB MAC? I understand the REALBOOKSOFTWARE site is not recommended from what I read. Was just trying to NOT have to input each song I want by hand.

Thanks for any info...have a great day!

Just saw this, you posted in the wrong forum for this question, not a lot of people are interested in creating their own User Real Tracks. This question should be in the Band in a Box for Mac forum or maybe Tech SOS.

The problem is Real Books all have melodies and those are copyrighted. A commercial music company such as PGMusic would have to pay a royalty for EVERY SINGLE SONG in EACH Real Book PER CUSTOMER. That's about 1500 songs. Even at a dollar or two apiece, you can see that math won't work for anybody. Many years ago there were a few websites that hosted the Real Books as Biab songs including melodies but they were all forced to take them down due to cease and desist orders sent out by rights holders which are mostly the big studios like Sony or Universal. They bought most of those songs from the original artists or their estates.

iReal Pro is a useful app that only costs $15. They also cannot include melodies but users have posted pretty much all the Real Book songs as chord charts. They're not in Biab song format, just charts on your phone or tablet using a basic synth and style for backing but they're decent enough for practicing along with. If you want to use all the Biab functions to create backing tracks, then you have to load them in yourself.

I use this website:

https://bhs.minor9.com/

These are basic forms so not backing track worthy, but it provides a foundation for practice or building backing tracks.

If you click on the home page link on that site, there is a download of 630mb which contains 60k midi files in all genres, what I have tried so far seems good.

I checked out a few of the midi tunes also.
Much better than what you normally find on the internet, especially for the price.

Many of the midi files are what I would consider professional quality, copyright infringing, but professional. A few of the Sinatra songs if not all are of very high quality. Full big band arrangements, basically note for note of the original Nelson Riddle arrangements. Definitely infringing on copyrights with full melodies etc.
