The Roland Mobile Studio Canvas makes a perfect sound module and audio interface for wide variety of software on Mac or PC including PowerTracks Pro Audio, Ableton Live, Cubase, FL Studio, Garage Band, Logic, Nuendo and more.

The Roland SD-50 link says that it is bundled with Sonar 8.5 LE. Really? A little dated, isn't it?

It may be a little dated, but it's true. It hasn't been updated because Roland has discontinued the product. Their website lists information here: http://www.roland.com/products/mobile_studio_canvas/

The good news: even though it's discontinued, it's still super popular! You see this item listing for sale on a lot of different "Music production" sites.

I don't know about the LE (light) version, but SONAR Producer 8.5 was very stable and effective. The move to the new Platinum, Pro or Artist is pretty easy. Plus, you would get a discount for owning a prior version of SONAR: http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions

It just seemed odd to me that the interface was being bundled with a version that was superseded 5 years ago.

Not really

Remember circa that time Roland BOUGHT CW, the SD-50 is at least that old and they (ROLAND) just bundled the SD-50 with the then "current" LE version of CW SW.
