I think BIAB should fix some obvois blunders like this.
I've stopped upgrading, because I'm waiting for a major UI update. There is so much that could be a lot better.
Don't get me wrong--the program has a lot of great features, but it is way overdo for an overhaul, particularly in regards to the sound and midi set up.

I shouldn't get:
"Output driver is installed properly but is currently in use by another program"
when I have:
"<no midi/sound output>" selected for the midi output driver.

It is just stupid--particularly since the program is updated twice a year.

Your problem was discussed a few years ago. Maybe you could search the FAQ for it. Later, Ray

I've run the software for years and never seen that problem.

Also: if you have a legit copy of the software live help or email support, they woutld solve that for you in a few seconds.

That's the part I don't get..if you paid for something and it does not work why don't you just call?

Or is it not that...
thats a bit unfair John, I know you make a lot of great posts here, butI have a legit copy and I have this message pop up from time to time, but have never called about it. His genreal point is sound IMO there are may legacy issues that PG need to get right.
The OP did not say where he/she stopped upgrading and what version he/she has. Yes, this issue has been discussed many times, but I thought in beta testing a year ago for version 2010, there was some code patch to minimize the occurrence of this error?

In any event, the "sound and MIDI setup" the OP refers to is the one area over which PG Music has the least control. They have provided support and a FAQ, and that may be all they can do, since everyone's system is different. For example, on my current system, I have never seen that error, but on my prior one, I did see it. It was caused by adding too many MIDI devices. That particular problem is a Windows limitation that has nothing to do with BIAB.
