I noted one user commenting on transferring all her PDF manuals to an ereader.

It would be a better idea for PGmusic to have the manuals prepared in
ereader format. I use an ereader and can boost the print easily, swipe
pages, line wrap around and use the index. Many tablets handle
ereader formats also.

In my opinion, PDFs are very awkward on smaller ereader screens. Print
is very small and when the font is boosted it's a big effort moving a
page back and forth. Finding what you are looking for can also be
troublesome.

Using Calibre to convert PDF's with lots of graphics is a mess. It will spit out the graphic's 90% of the time in the wrong place, or place them in a single row for the whole chapter.

What I have found that works better than Calibre alone is to first convert the PDF into a .mobi file using Mobipocket Creator, then converting THAT file in Calibre. Most of the time it will come out fine in ePub format, with the graphics getting messed up, or the text getting broke up around every paragraph or page break.

And both programs are free....
