Modern external sound modules have now commonly several sound Banks, and not only one GM set as in the beginning of the MIDI era. Now it is time for BIAB to evolve.
In order to exploit all the sonic potential of modern H/W sound modules, it would be nice to get an option to define our favorite patches including higher banks (tracks and combos). The idea is to get the same concept as it is implemented in the StyleMaker : 'Use Higher Bank Patches'
It would extend more possibilities than the standard GM patches set.

+1 and +1 again. Higher patch banks are available with many soft synths as well as hardware synths.

I have gotten instructions on convoluted workarounds (saving first to MIDI etc.) but this should not be a difficult feature to program. Especially for harmonies, using the Generic GM is a waste of good hardware.

For harmonies, it has been requested too, some time ago.
In fact, BIAB should be able to handle not only the GM sounds but any higher bank in all sections of BIAB where it is applicable (patches for tracks, for soloist, for harmonies, for piano rool, song memo, etc...).

But, there's a workaround? Besides taking the song into a DAW?

+1 to the 10th power...

Just started using BiaB; exploring a workflow idea to use the Yamaha MOX ("MOTIF XS Lite") great arpeggiators, performance mode & song/pattern modes to create a "backing track", then see what happens when converting into BiaB Style, then drag-and-drop midi over to Cubase.

I would very much like a simplified approach to selecting higher instrument patches as well as how to integrate several of the higher bank drum kits - both for a hardware synthesizer as well as software synthesizer (VST3 compatibility in BB2014?)

Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving.
