A NEW IDEA FOR CUSTOM BIAB (and RB) DRUM TRACKS ?
1. ARGUMENT FOR THIS IDEA.
lots of musos have one shot libs of drum hits they have built over the years.
it could be anything from a snare they like from haveing played live , a favorite water glass sound, a cymbal they like, or tympani, or say a royalty free drum sound or special fx. anything really.
right now people are limited to the RD's in biab.
so how about an added drum trak creation feature ?.
2. LET PEOPLE BUILD THEIR OWN CUSTOM DRUM TRAKS ?
with their own drum sounds.
heres how it would work .
a new feature in biab and rb.
A DRUM CELL CONCEPT.
1. go to menu item "build custom drum trak".
2. a graphic displays with 8 different cells.
3. clik on a cell.
4. file open dialog displays.
5. user loads each cell with the drum sample to use.
6. biab/rb then generate a drum trak as per normal , BUT heres the kicker, also an optional seperate DRUM FILLS TRAK.
et voila !
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if a user just wanted drum fills , then biab/rb could do that TOO.
useing either existing biab supplied RD's and/or drum sounds the user wants to use.
eg new menu item "generate drum fills". would save a bit of time laying markers down.

You can drag n drop audio samples directly in the Audio Track.
Also if we had had F5 change usertrack/loop at any bar it would help.
I will think more about what you say when I'm not overloaded, but have a look here:
Make sure you get the latest one down the page.

pipeline/everyone.
the whole idea of this drum feature is so poorer musicians dont need to spend large on drum libraries/software.
i got to thinking that if RD'S came as one shots as well, AND musicians got extra one shot royalty free drum samples.
a musician could drag/drop into the 8 cels mentioned in my previous post from a data store of one shot drum samples.
think about this.

lets take an example.

a muso likes a particular jazz RD snare lets say (one shot), but likes also a kik from a rok RD, and also likes a maracas (from an RD), and also likes a crazy cymbal sound
royalty free say from freesound/ off the net. or a cym a buddy sent.
MIX AND MATCH. BUILD ONES OWN CUSTOM DRUM KIT.
so the muso drags/drops from the one hit drum data bank on the pc/mac into the 8 biab drum cels mentioned previously.
THEN after auditioning briefly the custom drum kit in biab (or RB), tells biab /rb ok generate drum trak (and/or fills). et voila !!
thus in this example we are building a new drum kit from different styles, just one advantage.
(sorry for being stupid and not mentioning this idea before. i needed sleep lol.)

TO PG.
my comments on 2021.
i doubt i will upgrade.
(ive been a big pg supporter over the years.)
frankly i'm rather disappointed with this release.
both in terms of the added technical features i need for song creation, as well as the added song styles.
also lots of things that are bugging me.

my main music interests lie in 60's //70's rock (includeing soft/heavy rock/pop but not tres heavy metal),
and i would like to get back into the operatic style of singing that is found in old rodgers and hammerstein movies. i enjoy singing opera , particularly comedic opera.
these latter R/H styles are lush orchestral soundscapes.

thus i was hoping that biab, over time would include these types of soundscape styles.
alas i have oodles of jazz and country styles which i never use.

my other comment is, though the electric guitar rock styles are v good "technically" ie the playing, i find often i have to manipulate the actual "sound" via plug ins etc to get the song sound i want.
i would recommend upgradeing the "sound" in these styles.

still i believe biab has too much of a jazz bias. and i like some jazz. but for me it has to be very melodic jazz.

exotic chord structures are all well and good.
but songs like taking care of business (first aired in a jam
in BC if i remember when Randy B started rocking on C/Bb/F )
are a lesson in the fact that lots of people just want to
rock out on a saturday night.
thus the song became a huge hit. simple as it might be in chord structure.
its simplicity is a great songwriting lesson imho.

in summary i would like to see more film soundscape styles, and many many MANY more orchedstral instruments.
i would very much like to get back into my operatic singing. but i have to stick to rock/pop right now due to lack of features/soundscape styles in biab.

count me frustrated by the lack of features i need in 2021.
ive been very patient over the years, waiting and waiting etc.
