I have enjoyed the benefit of the Band-in-a-Box Download Manager this year even for the massive huge 16 gigabytes. It streamline the multifile install process nicely.

One issue I observed that the Manager asks for a different folder level than the BIAB Preferences.
This can cause confusion and installation problems. Example half RT in one folder and new RT in a different folder.

RT Example
In BIAB preferences we are asked to specify the RealTracks folder.
In the Manager we are asked to specify the RealTracks folder location (Parent).
These are different folder levels.

RD folders is the same issue

The two folder requests(Preferences & Manager) should be congruent and at the same level.
I appreciate that the Manager reads the preferences and populates these folders initially. This does not cover all possible use cases.

fyi: the Download Folder and the Band-in-a-Box folder ask for the folder not the parent location.

I'm not understanding the issue.

The Download Manager settings are divided into left and right file locations. The left side identifies where downloaded files are stored. The right side identifies where files are installed.

Both the left and right sides have buttons that let you change the default entries should you have a custom install.

The right side install locations match the locations requested during manual file installations such as the initial program installer.

Right Jim, your are in the correct area and what you observe is accurate.

the subtle difference is in the specification of the path. It is a UX issue.
in BIAB preferences you provide the complete path
C:\bb\RealTracks\
in Manager the nomenclature changes, RealTracks Folder location
you provide part of the path, just the parent folder
C:\bb\
there is an uncommunicated presumption that the install will create or use a subfolder named RealTracks.
^ This is the disconnect.

If your configuration has the n,nnn Gigabytes of RT & RD data on another drive this subtle change in folder spec can be confusing.

--- Scenario
Installed BIAB 12 months ago, two drive configuration C: & F:
Never change or look at the locations for a year while you enjoy making music.
Now Using Manager to Install and need to answer the Install Folder questions.
Before Pressing Install you want to get it right to avoid a messed up install
Go into BIAB preferences to see where the RT & RD are currently.
F:\bb_Real\RealTracks

See the 3 Install Folder questions on the right side are asking two different questions the green one is complete path, the RT & RD are asking for part path just the parent folder.
And these folder questions are different than the Preferences setting.

I understand what your saying. However, it's clear that BiaB Preferences is looking for the custom name and location of your folder location while the Download Manager just needs the location of the RealTracks folder.

If you decide to use a custom folder location, when you press the button with the three dots the next window forces you to enter a folder name as well as navigate to the folder location.

The folder name is not needed unless you decide to customize your installation.
