Well....two things come to my mind.

Cubase tempo does not match original tempo of the recorded .wav file?
Cubase sample rate does not match sample rate of the imported .wav?

Don't know if that helps or not...but, you got a bump.

Carry on....

Hopefully the OP had some success by now.

Be sure the sampling rate matches.

The best bet is to use 16/44.1k or 24/44.1k for everything.

the first number 16 or 24 is the bit depth with 16 being CD quality bit depth and 24 being slightly better for a number of reasons.

The second number... 44.1k is the sampling rate and 44.1 is the CD sampling rate and is fairly universal.

Changing the sampling rate in a DAW does produce pitch changes and other issue so be sure you match the rates. I always record 24/44.1 in my DAW and anything that you load that is 16 or 24 bits will work flawlessly with no settings changes needed. Just be sure the sampling is set to 44.1 in PG as well as your DAW.

Some commercial users of music will often request a higher sampling rate. IIRC, some of the film companies want higher sampling rates but unless you're working on a project such as that, use 24/44.1k and everything will be good.
