Hi, I have been using Biab box for a couple of years but yesterday I was playing some tracks on file and I am getting this "static" every 12 seconds which last for about 2 sec and repeats over and over every 12 seconds.
I can accept the laptop is getting old but this only happens when I open BiaB. I have disconnected everything from the laptop hoping it was something from the monitor, mixer or keyboard. I have just purchased an Alesis v25 and been trying to get that going and have adjusted a few settings but hopefully nothing that would do this.
I have tried to attach a shared Dropbox video which may describe the issue. Not sure whether this will work.
Any clues?????

Thoughts:

Do you have a plug-in on your system that is unregistered, perhaps a demo period that expired?

Try downloading and running the free DPC Latency Checker. The website explains.

Do you use a wireless mouse?

Did you try turning off WiFi to test?

I notice that you use Coyote Forte DXi, that will give static on regular intervals if it is not registered.

It's possible that a Windows 10 update has upset the system. It has happened according to posts on here.

Regards,
Noel

Thanks Noel and Matt.
Noel....you have found the problem with Coyote Forte DXi even though I have paid for it which shows up on my account. I have never used it because my old keyboard has been out out to pasture and have just added a new one this week. Unsure why now its giving me this noise but maybe I will have to download it again and re-register it. I still have the key.
As mentioned I have been trying to get the settings to use the keyboard and that was going to be my next forum post somewhere.
For your info when I uncheck the box "use VSTi/DXi Synth" the noise disappears, so obviously thats the issue.
Not sure where to go from here but I'll download again and see what happens.
Thanks for your help...I'll get back with the results.

If Coyote Forte is still installed, then I would just try to re-register it.

Run BIAB (or RealBand) as Administrator, launch Forte either in a track or as default synth and open it. Right click on the interface and select to enter you registration key again. I would do that first.

Did you actually register it in the first place, or just install it?

Forte doesn't call home when you register, so you don't even need to be on the internet. It just checks that your registration code is a valid sequence of characters.

If that doesn't work, then I would probably uninstall it (using Control Panel, Programs and Features), then re-install it. After re-installation, you'll need to go back in and bring it up and re-register it.

Hi John, yes I registered the Coyote.
I had no idea how to do it so I contacted PG and they stepped me through albeit very simply with a right click. That was 18 months ago.
I wonder if it was the Sample Tank as I did muck around with a download there a few days ago and thought I put in my authoriztion code but perhaps it didn’t go through.
In the meantime I have stopped the noise but no real idea how or why so we are underway again.
I will post some midi questions....again if I can get this keyboard to make a sound.
Thanks.

I would load SampleTank and make sure it is authorized. If you need to re-authorize, be sure to launch the IK Authorization Manager as Administrator, since it will want to write to the registry.

As long as your machine details haven't changed much, it should recognize that you previously registered and won't use a separate authorization slot (it will re-authorize in the original slot).

I have had IK instruments that I thought were already authorized drop their authorization occasionally in the past and had to re-authorize them.

Could you help me out with the best file location of Sample tank please? Does it have to sit in a location so BiaB / Real Band can recognise it. I think I have lost it in the system somewhere.

Hi, Wish -

Which version of SampleTank do you have? Version 2 is 32-bit, but version 3 is 64-bit (and therefore requires jBridge to work with BIAB or RealBand).

I'll have to look at my music machine for how I have it installed; however, I don't normally do the default install. The SampleTank VSTi DLL file can go anywhere; however, it needs to know where its content is. I just don't remember off the top of my head right now.

If I have some time this evening, I'll try to post back with the information (unless someone else beats me to it).

It should be on your hard drive mine is c: then programs files(x86) then look for vst folders I have two 1 vst 2 vst plugins you should see sample tank dll.

Thanks, have reinstalled Sample Tank version 2 and the dll is in Steinburg VST plugin folder. I have another VST folder for whatever reason which also has the Sample Tank dll as well a sforando dll.
I think I'm all over the shop so I should sit and try and learn a bit more about this.
I also downloaded from Sample Tank sounds and they have gone to the IK Multimedia file where Sample Tank sits.......I should start another thread to get this organised....I have absolutely no idea.

Hey Wish,

Just following up to see if you had any resolution to this.

One other thing that I had thought may be causing this, are you using an Amplitube Style?
