I've only had BB 2016 for a couple months. I'm upgrading to the 2017 Everything bundle on the disc drive. Would it make sense to uninstall 2016 from my resident drive, and just install 2017 (core prog) on my internal drive?

hi rworkman,

Since 2006, I've been installing all new versions of BIAB directly over the top of existing versions. By doing it this way, any existing files are replaced and new files are added. This is the process that most (maybe even all) long time users use.

I also run the full wma version of the drive from my computer's hard drive. The USB drive then becomes my back-up should my computer have a meltdown of some kind.

If you were thinking of running the program from the USB disk drive, it would make sense to uninstall. If, however, you were going to be running it from your computer's hard drive, there's no need to uninstall.

Hope this helps,
Noel

You do not need to do a "clean" install when you update to a new version.

The installer knows what it's doing and will install the new version perfectly.

Personally, I've never had an issue when I installed my newer versions. But be advised, things can go wrong with a new clean install just as easily as things can go wrong with an updated install.

Just install it over the old version, hope for the best, and come here or contact Tech if there's a problem.

Thanks for the replies. I currently have my content on an external drive, so I only have the core program installed on the HD. Also, I really haven't done much other than explore around since I got it.
When the new drive comes in, I'll install the new version, and run all of the content off of the external drive.
I use Sonar Platinum as my DAW, and plan on stitching my ideas together in BIAB, then arranging/editing in Sonar.
Can't wait to get the full package!!

That's a good plan. It's exactly the same process I use.

Me too, same thing. Install over the old version. You will see that BIAB keeps the backup version automatically in case you wanted to revert (I never have).
