I would like to compose a MIDI pattern over one, or multiple, measures and have the same intervals and note durations transpose to follow the chord sheet. It would be even better if I could compose a four pattern sequence, say in A major, and then if I have a minor playing for two bars, it would follow the first two bars of the original pattern, and if I input one bar in, for example, a half diminished chord, than it would employ just the first measure's pattern for that chord, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Pipeline! I was hoping this was something I could accomplishe w/o paying extra money for a stand-alone program :-(
(not that I don't appreciate your input!)
It works as a vst in Biab or RealBand.

I gotta say, that does look pretty awesome!
BIAB stylemaker should work - it does for me.

All patterns are built around a C7 chord. BIAB can then transpose and make all the non-major chords from that.

I built my styles using existing BIAB styles, although BIAB provides a tool called Hybrid which allows you to pick patterns from other styles to make your style. You can select pattern from any instrument. I guess you could use drums, but I stayed away and use real drums.

You can import a A part, a B part, or both, and even combine an A from one instrument / style with a B from another.

I never built patterns from scratch, but I did change octave on occasion.

I agree. If you want to use what's available in BIAB, it sounds like Stylemaker will do the job for you. It's worth checking out. As Dave mentions, Stylemaker will build all BIAB's chords from the pattern you define as MIDI entry.

If you go to the link below...

...and look under the "Advanced" section, you'll find a 37 minute video on how to use Stylemaker.

While the video clip uses an older version of BIAB, the principle is exactly the same today except that Stylemaker is now found under "File >> Stylemaker".

Regards,
Noel

Or just look for the "Top Hat" on the tool bar.

In REAPER there's a free REATRAK that will fit any midi to chords, it also has a snap to scale:
