I'm making a backing track for Niel Gow's Lament for His Second Wife which is in 6/8 time and I'm having problem entering the three chords in bar 8 on the sheet music which is bar 4 in BIAB as the bars are split in two for 6/8 time. I know it's possible to enter four chords in a bar in 4/4 time etc. but as the bars are split into two, I'm not able to do this - I enter G,Em7 but can't enter the D.

You didn't say how you entered the chords.

For 6/8 time you should be able to enter:
G (comma) Em7 <enter> D <enter>

or this try to get a chord change on every triplet:

G (comma) Em7 <enter> D (comma) Am <enter>

Hi Narayano,

Band-in-a-Box treats two bars of 6/8 as one bar of 4/4 in a triplet feel, so you simply won't be able to enter all 3 chords, sorry. 6/8 is closer to 2/4 than 3/4, so as I understand it you wouldn't usually have that many chords in a bar.

That being said, you could try a slow celtic waltz style for that song. I understand 6/8 is technically correct, but a waltz style would allow that third chord, and I'm seeing it notated both ways online.

Thanks
Kent

Hi Kent,

Thank you for that. I shall try the walz style.

Kind Regards

Narayano
You're welcome!
