I'm trying to generate some MIDI for my DAW to speed workflow. What I want is a BIAB MIDI style that just outputs STRAIGHT chords according to the sheet without any additional notes to make this sound prettier. Also looking for a style in a similar manner that outputs a bass line that is JUST root chord notes according to the sheet and nothing else. This would be very useful for a starting point in a DAW when working. Is there any styles built in like this or something that can be downloaded as a user style etc?

Someone must've thought of it before...

Yes, I thought of something like this over twenty years ago and requested a set of styles, which they made. One is called HeldBosa.STY and the other is Sw44Held.STY. Each has a drum beat (Bossa or swing, which you can mute) but otherwise it's straight triads in first position and root, held for the whole chord. They are helpful for composers.

So they ARE available there somewhere. Amazing, I'm heading into BIAB right away to check. Great! Thanks for the reply!

It seems to work good, apart from the MIDI data being slightly off in sync, but a quick quantize is all it takes.
One problem that could be a concern is that chords lasting longer than 2 bars are REPEATED rather then left held. I guess the chords could be joined in the DAW in these situations and that it might not be that common.

You could request that PG Music design new styles to fit that would modify these. Go to the Styles Wishlist forum.

Try PIANOHLD.STY (it's one of the utility styles you can access under the "more" option).

You could also do it yourself with the style maker. Create a major triad and use it for each position in the chord boxes (8 beats, 4,2 1) and for each instrument in the band. It will sound really boring, but if that's what you want, it couldn't be simpler

Found it, but it repeats EVERY bar, worse than every other bar in the other style suggested. I did however find a fix: just add ... to the chords lasting longer than 2 bars (using the previously suggested style).
