Hi,
I am a newbie to BIAB and RB.
1. I have a song in RB containing MIDI and Real Tracks
2. Was intending to save as .mp4
3. the Rendering pop-up shows up, and the rendering seems to complete
4. No .mp4 file is generated

Would appreciate the help,
Thank you,
Martin

What version of the programs and what Operating System?
Some Windows machines won't write mp4 and just read them

You may need to install a codec that can 'write' mp4 format.
Quiktime or K-Lite would likely work as a guess
/as always, scan any download before installing and watch every screen during the install to make sure you don't unintentionally install something else with it

I recently built a new machine and when I try to save as MP4 I get a yellow warning box during the process (see below)

Thank you rharv.

Now that you mention it I did see the Quiktime pop-up, did not connect it with 'save as' problem

OS Windows 8.1

Which of the 'save as' formats can I use without additional downloads?

Thanks again

Do you (or did you) mean to say Mp3? Mp4 is a video/audio container. Unless you wanted a video (doesn't sound like you did), it would be an odd choice. That MIGHT be why no .mp4 file was made, but I can't hazard a guess as to why exactly.

Tangmo,

I'm a Windows user myself but I believe the native compressed audio file format for Mac is MP4. It is the equivalent of a wma file in the Windows world. I'm pretty sure the compressed Band-in-a-Box for Mac RealTracks are saved in the MP4 file format and the uncompressed RealTracks are AIF.

I'm sure a Mac user will chime in to confirm or deny.

I kinda thought that was the case, Jim. Seems like I've heard that along the way about Mac files. But he ID'd as using Windows 8.1. New to BIAB and RB...maybe new to encoding audio period? Worth a shot.

Or maybe he's wanting to share an audio file with a buddy that uses Apple products.

Users with Windows 8 or 8.1 are a hardy lot. Microsoft support for Windows 8 and 8.1 ends January 10, 2023.

OR...perhaps he was intending to send the audio file to an Apple user he knows. Did you ever think about that?!?

Sadly, we may never know.

Ah,

But we can dream my friend. What could be better than introducing another person to Band-in-a-Box? If not before then after such a kind gesture you would surely have a friend for life!
