I am entering a song that has a few ghost notes. They are x's where the note should be. I know it means the words should be spoken at that part. But I want some sound to indicate rhythm. Does BiaB have a way of dealing with this?

I was thinking of picking an instrument like a drum. But the bar has regular notes in it as well as ghost notes. So doing a patch change for the bar wouldn't work.

Don't recognize this offhand, but any chance you could attach a screenshot of what you see exactly for more context? Could help some of us get a better picture. smile

I never was able to get them to sound right but this link has an image at the top right of the string:

We need to know more. Ghost notes in jazz have the same duration as a regular note, but are barely sounded.

To clarify, are you looking for a way to enter ghost notes, or are you saying that you have already successfully entered them? Also, which version year of the program are you using and is it for Mac or Windows?

I am using the 2019 version for Windows. I have not successfully entered ghost notes in BiaB.

I would like to make the ghost notes appear in BiaB in the notation view and the print outs. That is, with an x for a note head. I would also like to make the ghost notes sound like a soft rhythmic taping instead of actual notes.

The song is "Why Me, (Lord)" by Kris Kristofferson.

Here he is singing the song

The clip of sheet music given above is approx betweem 27 seconds and 37 seconds on the video

I don't know of any way in Band in a Box to make a notehead display an "x" (indicating a "ghost" note, or more usually an unpitched note) instead of using the standard round noteheads.

OK, I guess there is no way to do it. I will just leave the ghost notes out.

The free Musescsore 3 will do this. Bring you BiaB track into Musescore 3 and use the note heads to change the note to a ghost note.
