I am doing a song, and the sax comes in all the way through. is there a tutorial to explain how to mute it for a verse automatically?
F5 (Bar Settings) tells BIAB when to play each instrument on each track by bar number. You mute the instrument when you want and "return" to normal at the bar you want.

This is the most popular question for first timers. Once you learn F5 you will use it often.

Welcome to the forum
Also welcome to the forum and to Band-in-a-Box.

In Band-in-a-Box 2022 you can use the (new for 2022) volume automation feature that is part of the audio editor. Volume automation allows very fine mutes and volume changes. Page 267 of the user manual describes use of volume automation and provides a short tutorial.
thank you for this, Jim.. i will look into it! still daunted by technology at the moment!
Thank you Dan... i have found the Bar settings and will study it in the manual, because i am using a Mac i'm finding it harder to find videos.... unless you know of a youtube or tutorial for this. if it the most common question it is likely to be highlighted somewhere! thanks again!
PianoDoll, The feature I described is not available in Band-in-a-Box for Mac. Also I cited the Windows manual so the manual won't help you either. I apologize for not realizing you use Mac.
No problem!
I don't know the differences with the Mac version, but there some other options that may be useful. The F5 type function is quickest and easiest.

Volume automation would allow fading the instrument in and out.

Medleys allow for several instruments in succession on the same track. This is for Windows: https://youtu.be/lUZ-FOM6IYQ I found no medley video in the Mac section.

The mysterious RealTrack RT1152:Silence may be one of those instruments. https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=680378&Searchpage=1&Main=92601&Words=mysterious&Search=true#Post680378
