My score has converted to big note mode and I cannot get it back to normal.

I'm not really sure what this might appear as, perhaps the note names are shown in the note heads?
At any rate, possibly a return To Factory Settings might be the quickest way to resolve.
Select the 'Most' option. Also, you can Save your current preferences first.

Yep, I've seen this problem before too. Frustrating. No easy way to go back to square one other than, as AudioTrack mentioned, return to factory settings.
