Here is a song I just wrote and it was heavily influenced by biab and my ability (or inability) to manipulate the tool to my will. In particular, I had difficulty getting the styles and tempos to change at the correct times. Also, I like to share my songs via youtube because it seems to work on most websites and devices. I like to share my songs with the lyrics scrolling by karaoke-style, so that I can get critiques on the music and lyrics. Currently I am using Moviemaker. Is it possible to do this right from biab, to save that tedious step? Thanks and please give me feedback on the song, if you would.

I Can't Reach You - by Paul Churchfield

A son should never call his father by his name
I know she coached you but it still hurts just the same

I know you tried to hurt me
That was pretty clear
There's things I need to tell you
There's things you need to hear

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

It's been such a long time since I've seen you
I've tried and tried so hard but I can't reach you

My door is always open
My heart never stops hopin
That you'll come back where you belong

You should post songs in the users forum...assuming you are using BB, it's a courtesy to tell us what tracks are BB and what isn't. You said you were influenced by it.... did you use it?

Also... how are you recording the vocals? They sound really muffled and dry.

To answer your question, yes, you can record one audio track such as a vocal track into BB directly. You can use Real Band to record multiple tracks on top of the BB stuff. Real Band is a DAW and you will likely get better results from using it vs movie maker.
Nice tune, pchurchfield! I must agree with Guitarhacker - posting this in the user showcase forum would definitely garner more listens for you smile
Thanks for the reply Guitarhacker. I guess I don't get on here enough because I never knew about the users forum for posting original songs. To me, songwriters seemed like the place for an original. Also, I did not know about the courtesy of telling which tracks were biab or not. I will do that later, when I am at my own computer. The vocals were just recorded as an audio track via biab, no effects. I know this piece needs lots more attention to production. It is a work in progress. Thanks again. -Paul
Thanks for the reply Deryk! As I told Guitarhacker, I am not at my home computer right now. But when I am, I will repost this to the user showcase and indicate which tracks are bb. Cheers! -Paul

Is it possible to get the same type of video (i.e. Music w/Lyrics, like this one I Can't Reach You - Video, using Moviemaker ) using Realband or Band in a Box?

I have searched the user manuals for both and it does not seem possible.

The only options for video display seem to be music with notation or music synched to a previous video. Neither of which I am looking for.

I don't see how Realband is going to simplify the tedious process of doing it with Moviemaker, per my original question.

Please let me know if I am missing something?

Thanks
Paul
You create the song and do production in BB/RB. Then you can use movie maker to create the movie and simply import the wave file or MP3 into movie maker as opposed to using it to do the music the way you did it.

A number of my videos are done the exact way I just said.... did the music in BB/RB and Sonar as my DAW... exported it to Windows movie maker to make the file I could put on YouTube.

Here's a few examples:

Yeah Paul,

To Herb's point I am not sure what you are doing workflow wise. Your last song might have been using BIAB tracks but did not sound like it was produced in a DAW. It was very muddy.

Coming out of Real Band or Sonar as a mix, it should be crystal clear.

I don't do a lot of videos but when I do they are a snap in Movie Maker. I take a lot of 15 to 30 sec scenic videos on my phone. I will often do a 15 minute photo shoot on my smart phone for a video with 20 or so 15 second to 20 sec clips.

Then I just pull those into movie maker and set the trims to make it 4 minutes, or however long the song is. You right click I think on your video segments to mute the background noise.

Then you load you audio clip, choose opening credits and end credits on captions, hit render and you are done.

I don't load lyrics onto movies because I find that is really distracting. Just let people listen to the song.

Pretty easy actually.

This took 20 minutes.
