I just stumbled across this and I quite like the way he talks through this subject.

This is a very good explanation of modes.

Thanx for sharing.

Here's a cool site on modes. Scroll halfway down to hear what each sounds like. Good jazz lessons.

I use that site a lot. He has some good stuff on there. Well documented and explained with good examples to listen to. Love it. Thanks for sharing with everyone!

He's great. I sub'd his channel a long time ago.I bought his "The Modes of Major" poster with custom artwork before I moved to France, and spent more on getting it fitted to poster board than I did for the poster itself. It survived over 6 months in a box at the hands of my int'l shipper.

As a keys player, I don't so often look at guitar player stuff. I have nothing against it, of course, it's just another level of abstraction that I don't need.

Sometimes though, like here, there's really good content.

I always just think of them as Major and Minor (Ionian and Aeolian..)
Then Lydian is major with a sharp 4..Mixolydian is major with a flat 7..
Phrygian is minor with a flat 2.. Dorian is minor with a sharp 6..
