Just tried again with #590 banjo here and cold not duplicate those results.

I think you should send the file to support so that just in case they cannot duplicate those results either, they will have your file to take a look at.

I think I would Freeze the broken file to forward that to them.

This is not happening on all installs, apparently.

My guess is it is happening to those of us who did not have the RealTrack previously. My previous version was 8.5 I think it had RealTrack Sets 1, 2, & 3. So I have a feeling those files are missing from the master disk mine was imaged from.

I sent an e-mail to support and will send the file if they need it. My email was sent before anybody was able to duplicate the problem though.

I have upgraded from 2010.5 everything pack so I don't think that is it.

It really does not matter the chords you put in. I just tried it on my laptop using nothing but E chords of all various types and it fails on the E, Em and E7 chords. Changed to all keys and them same thing happened. The chords Eaug, Esus, Emin7, Edim, E13, E11, E2 and E9 chords all play perfectly and they also play perfectly when I changed to all different keys.

Just now tried it using BIAB version 2010.5 build 304 loaded on a USB drive and the same problem occurred using any style that contains the #590 banjo RealTrack. This was tried on both a HP laptop running XP and a desktop running Windows 7 32 bit.

In other words guys, I have tried them all over the past 2 days.

It doesn't appear to be a bug with BIAB or RTs. It has to be on your system or some missing file in BIAB (I suppose that would be a bug or sorts) but it works great for me on all chords at all tempos. I sure hope you figure this one out. Its a head scratcher for sure.
Good luck.

I have ruled out systems as I have tried this using version both 2010.5 and 2011 on 3 different computers and others have had the same results. It certainly could be the original download of the RT as these were not shipped to me. The files were downloaded by me at the time of purchase.

I would certainly be available and willing to download a fresh copy of this particular RT series and try it again should that be PG Music's desire in order to retest.

PG Music has asked me to download the RealTrack set that includes #590. I will do and report back. Meanwhile how 'bout a nother banjer joke?

How can you tell if there's a banjo player at your door? (Scroll down for answer)

They can't find the key, the knocking speeds up, and they don't know when to come in.

Same problems here, seems pg music is aware of it. What realtrack does this banjo play in as I have them all and could try a reinstall?

How about one more Banjer joke?

What is the most seldom heard comment made of banjo players? (scroll down for answer)

I called PG Music and made arrangements to download Real Track set #33 again. I installed it and it fixed the problem. All I can say is if you have the same problem as reported, you need to call PG Music and get a new copy of Set #33.

Like the Juke Box thing in RB - I'm just now getting to look at this and I have the SAME issue as jcland with RT590: Banjo, Bluegrass Doc Ev 100 (Rhythm - Simple), Scott Vestal

So jcland you are not alone (looks like a call to PG is in my future as well as soon as I am done typing)

Dumb bunny me - while I own all RT's with the arrival 2011 and reduced file sizes I went ahead, after installing from the DOWNLOAD files (awaiting the HDD arrival) and then deleting the +/-'s I thought “that’s great look at that space savings” so when HDD arrived (for good measure) I copied the HDD Realtracks folders over onto my desktop and laptop installations (and also to one of my backup USB 2TB’s drives – yes I am a anal paranoid on losing files).

But I finally said instead of those LARGE redundant-redundant install files of the various RT’s it is just as easy to copy the RT folders to where I might need them in teh future - so I DELETED the INSTALL files DOH!!!

Bottom line best I can do is copy the RT folders around now

Yep fixed!

Rob at support sent me links to new set 33 install (only needed first half since the affected RT set is is "medium" speed (100 aka #590) and that's in part 1

This was weird and whoever thought it was only those that didn't have it before that was not it (work for Mac and others, but not for Brian or myself who both had it at least since 2010.5 and I have all RT’s as soon as released)

Looks like Brian is Win 7 and I’m Win XP Pro so it isn’t’ OS – but it any case it’s fixed and in doing so I’ve learned that by playing with banjo issue using the the stuff I was working on (medium/ medium- slow jazz/smooth) has some real potential with BANJO in lieu of guitar – who knew (live and learn).

Now- I think I’m going to investigate this a lot more (Rhodes and Banjo!) so thank’s to OP for leading me down this unexpected path!

Interesting - I have 2010.5 (2) too and I have the RT590 problem - 589 is fine. My OS is XP.

Guess I'd better give support a call.
Thank you everyone for all of your hard work on this.

FYI As with Larry, I contacted PG Support via e-mail and they graciously sent me the replacement banjo link.
Now downloaded, soon to be installed.

Thanks everyone.

Hi everybody,

Having the same problem but I have the install files for realtrack 33 I believe this is culpit here.

I installed again but problem remains. PG told me I have to delete the realtrak and then install. Looking in the realtracks folder not sure exactly what I should delete if anyone would be good enough to shed some light on it for me.

Thanks

This may be it here and I am a little embarrassed I didn't see this (but then neither did anyone else remember) but back in MAY of last year other issues with that banjo set #590:

http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.p...true#Post275110

If you page down you will see Peter's response :

"We'll fix that in the next patch. If you want a fix sooner than that, you can download this file, and unzip the 2 files (rbanj003.st2 and rbanj003.xt2) to your c:\bb folder, overwriting the files that are there already."

So he explains WHICH .xt2 and .st2 seems to have been the problem then - so at least you know which of those files to delete (better yet RENAME to something else like OLD_ rbanj003.st2 and OLD_ rbanj003.xt2 ...)

As well as the Realtracks folder that has the .bt0 and .wma files (../realtracks/Banjo, Bluegrass Doc Ev 100). Again I WOULD simply RENAME that folder until you are sure it is fixed and working I wouldn’t delete it - yet)

Hope this helps

Larry

PS after 10+ years (cause we all had to re-sign up on forum for some reason don’t remember why - back then) I finally made 100 posts!

Just indicates how much I lurk and how little I help.

But I really enjoy this forum to ones like Motifator , Cakewalk, I absolutely hate it when I DO have to go to those. On these forums there is almost never any “talking down,” bickering, or unpleasantness. Only other forums that are this civil are most of my firearms forums.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
