Anyone using this OS successfully with biab audiophile? I'm thinking of looking into this operating system. Saw some vids on utube of the julia version. Either the Australian guy had a quad 8 running wide open or the system reboots like lightning. Any known problems? I don't know how new mint julia is could be too new to discuss or old news. The guy was talking so fast I could hardly follow what he was saying. What say everyone with Linux in the closet?

I dumped windows years ago and I'm ready to do so again. New laptop, new os win7 prem, new audio interface, new biab same old BS. Pointer violation, access violation, little postage stamp screens popping in and out of biab's chord window on the down beat of the fifth bar in an 8 bar loop. That can not protend to anything good.... I've disabled the ua whatever, but have not gone farther yet except for dumping norton for avg. But it's go to go too. SOS.... and I don't mean help! So.... what about Linux?

I feel your pain, but i would not open that door yet. I use Linux Fedora 13 at home on my e-mail broswer system, and have tinkered with audio apps, but it is not for the faint of heart. Some folks get it working, but everyone i have talked to about it still has som,e issues. If you are having this much grief with a system that BiaB was made to run on, i would slow down and get on the phone with support and iron out the issues. Almost everyone here has BiaB running flawlessly on XP, Win 7, and yes even Vista! So it does work. Whatever issues you are having, can be solved.

Hi Ron,

I run Linux Ubuntu on another hard drive. While I can get my earlier version of BIAB 2007 working fine with MIDI, I cannot get the Realtracks/Realdrums to work.

Regards,
Noel

Well while the news is disapointing, I appreciate the heads up from you guys. Thanks Rob and Noel. Part of the reason it's so frustrating is that the audiophile jazz stuff is sounding very good compared to what I was hearing in the 09 realtracks ultra pack or whatever it was. Then it turns to `access' manure with one mouse click.

Ron as i said in the other post, this is most likely not a huge issue. These things tend to be some small adjustment or simple driver issue. I spend almost 8 years over at Cakewalk MC forum from version 2003 to recent helping folks setup and get running. There was anywhere from mild concern to raging panic. And most often it was a small thing that needed adjustment. If acess violations were the norm here there would be total chaos and outrage, but it is an occasional issue.

Please take advantage of the offered support PG has and then you can get on with it, and have some fun.

I have not had a access vio message now in over a year. My system is old and tired, but it does a great job.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
