Lyrics

Sweet freedom is here now at last it came today
Sweet freedom is where I will bask faraway
Sweet freedom on an island bathing in the sun
Sweet freedom sweet freedom I have won

As the years went slowly by
All I had to do was just comply
Even though I wanted to be free
I had to work and earn my money

But sweet freedom is here now at last it came today
Sweet freedom is where I will bask faraway
Sweet freedom on an island bathing in the sun
Sweet freedom sweet freedom I have won

Instrumental

Sweet freedom is here now at last it came today
Sweet freedom is where I will bask faraway
Sweet freedom on an island bathing in the sun
Sweet freedom sweet freedom I have won

Oh let me tell you now
Sweet freedom is here now at last it came today
Sweet freedom is where I will bask faraway
Sweet freedom on an island bathing in the sun
Sweet freedom sweet freedom I have won

Let me know what you think.

Best regards
George

Hey Michee,

You did a good job putting together the tracks and trying out some new things. Altho, I don't really hear you as a "country" singer - I personally like your voice in more of a pop arrangement - the feeling of your song and celebrating your freedom is from the heart and I can certainly relate to that.

Might I suggest you try remixing it with a little less of the guitar and steel while you're singing, as well as having the guitar and steel trade off for maybe 8 bars each on the solo part?....It sounds a bit too busy IMHO....Good tune though and congrats on your retirement! (I know I'm enjoying mine<G>)

Hi Josie,

I listened to a song that had only one verse and the rest was chorus (the song was Storms Never Last by Dr Hook)

So I thought, I have never tried that ... so I did

I don't consider myself a singer of any kind, just someone who is having great fun with Band In a Box (although I get envious when I hear some people on the forum sing as they have that authentic country voice)

Sometimes when you try something new it can be good , or, a complete disaster, but, I still have fun either way.

Thanks for listening and your nice comments

Best regards
George

Nice one, George.
I like the song and sentiment. (I've been 'free' for six months now...)

Yes, I think it sounds like it's more "produced" now.... but of course....It's what "you" think that's the most important....

George- this has something special mixed in there, really. I like the vocal treatment. Kind of anthem-like, it's infectious! This is one you get done listening to and hum that chorus- as I'm doing right now. You know I'm always one to suggest this or that, but I'd say leave it be- it's right on. Like I said, there's a certain blend that's very appealing. Maybe it's hitting my 70's sweet spot, where everything goes [or went] when it came to instrumentation and all. Something good afoot in this one. Let it ride- this is just a cool infectious track! I envy your retirement, btw. Mine will surely be something like this- 'hello, welcome to K-Mart!' as I greet people coming in just to make a buck to survive!

Hi Dan,

Thank you so much for listening and commenting on my song.

Glad you liked it.

A happy accident for the vocal sound (definitely not planned )

Best regards
George

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
